Not sure on the ka-e...but there might be two under the valve cover. Also, might be two on the bottom that you have to remove the oil pan to get to. Can anyone verify this?

Nissan is known for hiding bolts...but they also get stuck on the dowl pins too so it may just need a little pry bar action to get it off. But I'd wait until one of the real ka-e guys can chime in for any hidden bolts.

did you take the water pump off or check behind it? their maybe one or two behind it. and w/e you do DO NOT pry on it, its made of aluminum, it will break. I SEE THE PROBLEM!!!! You have a bolt that connects the top part of the cover to the bottom part, right above the water pump housing. also one down and slightly to the right. get them off and see what happens. get a flathead and ever so slightly push between housing and head see if you have some clearance.

Quote »[/quote]on this pic, right above the water pump housing, there is a bolt facing down connecting the top and bottom covers, and diagnolly to the bottom right, there is a bolt holding the cover on still.

i see a few bolts that should be removed. i know on the dual cam motor the oil pickup is bolted to the block and you need to remove the oil pan. i see at least 7 bolts that you need to remove. and for the love of god please clean that cover!!!you may find some more bolts under all that mess lol. plus it will make working on your car so much nicer becasue you wont get so dirty.

also have you removed the bolts that go from the oil pan to the front cover?

go grab some engine degreaser and clean it right now lol. they do tend to get stuck on there but i dont recomend trying to pry it off until you are damn sure every bolt is off. i knew one guy (total moron) who tried prying his off in the wrong spot and busted his new timing cover. the reason he was replacing his old one was because he busted it too that way lol.

and when you do try to pry it off dont pry just kinda "jimmy" it around dont use force. there are spots on the dual cam motor where you do that i dunno anything about single slammers but ive completely dismantled a few dual cam ka's by just looking at them and just goin for it. my first step was to clean everything

it should. its flamable right? lol. do they not have a walmart where you live? open 24/7 i used simple green and engine degreaser. its tedious but its so much nicer to work on a clean engine. you'll need plenty of rags and show towels maybe even a tooth brush and puddy knife to kinda slough off all that gunk.

i traded for my 09 crf150. my atv payment is only like 130 per month. and it cost twice as much as my dirtbike would have. friggen payin on the 08 but my 09 is paid for, rediculous lol.

well id try with the brake cleaner its better than nothing. just be conservative if thats all ya got. your gonna have to wipe most of that gunk off. just be careful since you already have the pulley off.

Remove the Oil Pan then you will see the oil pump- remove the two bolts from the oil pump and the front cover will come off.

I've got an idea! Go to your nearest fireworks distributor and get "little dynamites." Insert them behind the cover and ignite. Stand back and get the somone that you dislike and tell them to stand infront and it will be ok aslong as they cover their ears.

Ive taken those off before and i never had to take the oil pan off, throughly check all the bolts to the plate you want to take off. I know when i helped my buddy with this, we had to take a hammer to get it off. I dont encourage using brute force though, incase it breaks. We didnt break it thankfully, the exhaust cam snapping off did though!
