problem with the car. won't rev past 2500

well i was driving the car tonight and i took it up to about 4k and then let off.. as soon as i tried to give it a little bit of gas it wouldnt even go past 2500rpm.. luckly i was able to pull over and got it towed.. when i try to give it gas it just sputters really bad.. the car will start and idle ok but as soon as it gets close to 2500rpm it just starts sputtering and wont go past.. well any ideas?? thanks.. car is a 1996 240sx has an sr20det s14 motor in it

Could be an inctercooler pipe that blew off, but it sounds more like a MAF issue to me. Check to make sure the MAF plug is securely attached.

If it is, check the ECU for codes. It's entered into limp mode for some reason.

Def. a MAF issue. Check plug and wires.

yepp it was a maf issue.. found a broken wire.. gettin it fixed today thanks for the help and ill keep yall posted!
