I just installed the stillen intake with the z-tube and sometimes when I start my car it won't idle and will shut right off. Also when I was driving I went to shift into 6th and all the lights on the dash turned on and I lost power steering and had to force the car to the side of the road. I shut it off and turned it back on and it runs.

I wanted to know after the install do I need to have my car tuned for the added amount of air going into the engine? Has anyone else had this problem

No. You shouldn't need to get it tuned. Are all the clamps fastened tightly? Did you reconnect the battery Tight? Maybe you just need to reset your computer.

Did you put your maff sensor back correctly? Did you touch it by accidently?

It is supersensitive.

Check to see if you put the MAF sensor on backwards my friend was stumped by this sort of problem when he put his intake on and when i got there to help i was like look and arrow that says flow i wonder if it should be pointing away from the engine???

Its kinda hard to put the MAF backwards...you screw it on one end and you clamp it on the other. It can only go one way. Make sure you plugged in your MAF all the way. Also make sure you have clamps where the MAF meets the Z tube and where the Z tube meets the manifold. Other things to look for is to make sure that the intake isn't touching any lines of some sort, especially the silver line that runs right by the intake.

If the MAF was subjected to any severe vibration (dropped on the floor) it may now be faulty.

My advice is to put the OEM air box back on, see if the car is still doing the same thing (it should) then take it to the dealer....act stupid if they ask you anything as you may be at fault if you admit to messing around with it.

After it's fixed, be VERY careful with the MAF. Normally they're fine to work around. I've only heard about a few that have done this.

I checked the sensor to see if it was on backwards. that was my first fear. there was nothing on the sensor that said Flow or indicated what direction to place it. I put it back in by way of the wires bending. It has the chrome side facing the filter and the black side facing the intake. Please let me know if this is right, i'm assuming it is since I installed it last friday and was able to drive the car.

It seems that from a cold crank the car starts and idles fine, but after it's been driven a while and I start it the car won't idle and I have to rev the engine to get it to sit properly.

If i had to reset the computer how would I do so???

To do a reset:

1. Roll both windows down.

2. Unplug the Negative battery terminal

3. Depress the brake pedal 5-10 times (this discharges the ECU's caps)

4. Reconnect the negative terminal

5. Drive the car for 3-5 min

That's the easy way...there is another method that involves depressing the accelerator and turning the key with a stopwatch...look on the FAQ page for that one.
