Well I finally got to drive the car today and DAMN is that thing fast.... Also shot my first back fire flame out the exhaust

Anyway my problem is when Im accellerating the car runs great!! when Im decelling it does fine.... but when im in between accel and decel the car wants to almost stall... It gets real weak and almost seems like the car isnt getting fuel...

Im running the stock pump but the car runs strong under accelleration... So would it be the pump or something inline of the fuel?

I mean the car is running great. It idles fine, every now and then it drags a little on the RPM but it pretty steady.

I need to know if anyone had this problem and if so what is it? Is it the fuel pump? Also dont respond to this post sayin I should get a bigger pump if that is not my problem.. I will get the bigger pump when I get the money.

as long as ur running stock boost the fuel pump should be fine, either way its 100$ shipped for the walbro so get it anyways, as far as ur situation i dont know fo sho, but check all ur electrical connections, maybe the mafs ? if id idles, accelerates, decel all fine but cant maintain speed...check ur turbo pipiing and the wastegate and bov, check the whole damn car while ur at it,...

Do you have your BOV vented or recirculated?

If you don't have your BOV recirculated, that could cause the stumbling.

check your timing. could be off.

Also, could be bad gas. This is the first time you've ran the car since the swap, so you could have bad gas in the tank mixed in with some of the higher octane stuff you hopefully put in.

Yea the car had a full tank of 87 so that maybe the problem...

Im pretty sure the BOV is recerculating because I checked it today and the hoses all run back to the intake piping....

One thing I did notice is this only happens in 5th gear.... I can maintain speed in any other gear.

Also another question is Octane booster OK for the sr20det engine? Because I have a feul system cleaner thing Im going to run through tomarrow that has Octane boost in it that will push 93 octane up 4 points to 97 as it says on the bottle.

im not sure about the octane booster as ive never used it, but i know id never run 87 octane in my car....ive used ****ty premium before and felt a noticeable difference so i definitely wouldnt trust lower octane fuel...does anyone know what the reccomended octane for an SR is?

well the SR compression isnt very high so I dont see why lower Octane would hurt it other than performance. You have to have a high compression to cause Knock. Well the car runs fine right now... Just stupid fifth gear... Ill see how it acts with 93 Octane today.

the compression isnt high.. but you are boosting... which over comes that.

on another hand... if I am getting it correctly.. you might be having a similar problem to what I have had with my SR... we traced it back to a faulty CAS... check your timing... and make sure you have a consistent signal with your spark plugs.

Talked to a guy here in Bowling Green that works on SRs and he thinks it might be either fuel pump just being weak at times or MAF. So when ever I get the Walbro Ill find out for sure.

Its wierd the car now does the hesitation in any gear but its speratic and only does it every now and then. It also idles ruff after it does that, but then it will smooth out after about 30secs or if I trun the car off and back on it idles fine....

Id unno but anyway.. Thanks for the help guys. I love my SR!!!!

Actually, as far as octane boosters go, it's not worth the extra money. 4 points wont raise the octane from "87 to 91" or "91 to 95". it will raise the 87 octane to 87.4 and 91 to 91.4 that's what they mean, so 5 bucks for the bottle isn't worth it. just buy the hightest you can buy. where i am it's $2.59 per gallon of premium.

I use sunoco 94 octane its alittle extra but what is your car worth to you. I also run 110 octane with no problem as for the octane booster all that will do is make your engine ping ive learned from expierience and use Z-Max I put that in all my vehicles and the 240 ran alot more different with a oil change z-max in all the resevoirs it was supposed to go in.

Put the walbro in. I had a surging issue where it would partially boost on and off. That will probably clear it up for you. And be sure to fill her with the 91 or 93 whatever your state has. Good luck.
