problem with S14 KA in my s13 chassis

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

ok so ill try no to longate this

simply put my SOHC blew...friend had an S14 KA not in use

engine was converted with s13 DOHC parts for swap...DizzyIgn Coil (new)alternatorengine harness (MT)ECUMAFheaderstemp sensorTB w/ MT TPS

mated the S14 KA with my SOHC Mt transmission

first problem was no sparkwhich has been resolved

new problem...fuel pressure

simply put the pump prims as it should...pressure is built...turn the key, it starts up...but then boggles and ies due to fuel pressur not being constant...

im stumped...mechanic is stumped

weve even switched out all the converted parts with others...even the engine harness and ecu

if we feed it quick start and or carb cleaner and or brake cleaner constantly, it stays alive, and but idle isnt steady

things been set for TDC several times from pulley and dizzy, both doen together

im lost guys i need help...my car has been down for to damn long now...and im loosing hope.....does anyone know or have any idea wuts going on?

maybe a bad pump, I'd start with checking for power to the pump while cranking/and while it dies out, see if the power falls off or if the pump just stops.

if it does die out... does that mean i need to get another pump...cuz the pump is spaking new

Do you have the fuel lines on the right way? One is for fuel feed, the other is for fuel return. If you have it backwards it could have the same problems you are experiencing.

lol always the first question asked lol nah man the fuel lines are on properly i double checked wiht an s13 and s14

so there rite

well it may just be wiring issues. or it could be a bad pump even a new pump fails sometimes. Honestly worste thing I could think of is the dizzy isnt sending the running signal to the ecu to the pump. I know that the pump primes for a few seconds then cuts off, then when you fire it should run concstantly. See if its running when the engine dies. IF so you have another issue.

ive switched out the dizzy with 2 others... same problem...

so if the fuel keeps pumping after engine dies...its will be a bad thing?

so heres the current situation...if the MAF isnt connected the engine runs ...

when the MAF is connected the engine boggles...

like it cant keep a steady idle

any ideas

i was told possible IVC/egr problem

ive been told removal of both is possible and engine will run fine, but i just dont have the time to rip of my manifold and do all that (later maybe)

first concern is getting m baby back on the road, second will be anything comes along the way

So you narrowed it down, why not try a known good MAF to see if the problem stays the same or if it gets fixed.

ive done so...when i put a MAF that is bad the car wouldnt idle properly, and eventual fall below the idle ( which i believe is like 600rpm) and die

but its been fixed since that happened

also fixed exaust leak and new high flow cat

now that i finally got to drive my car...new problem (when willit end)

say im on 2 gear... tryin to get up to say...25-30 mph...the car starts to bob back and fourth...and the engine sounds like its struggling

even if i try shifting it to 3rd...it continues, until the revs are at 2k rpms for a lil bit...

i cant find and air leaks...fuel pressur is consistenly good....

friend said it might be the clutches pressure plate ... since it only happens in lower RPMS...

once it gets to around say 45...its ok it stabalizes...but even on fourth to 5 th it does it sometimes

ill post a vid so u guys can hear it...its sooo bad

basically this problem continues to boggle my fragile lil mind.... any ideas...

i knoe i said id post a vid...but camera has no tape...which i will purchase tonite
