OK, some dude I know wrecked his '98 SE with an S13 SR in it, so he had me come over and swap everything from his '98 into a '95 chassis. I swap everything over and the car starts up and runs just fine. However, now his battery is either messed up or not charging properly, I am not sure which, and I am over 100 miles away so i can't check it very easily.

Are there any differences between the zenki and kouki cars in the wiring that would make this not work properly? If so, what needs to be changed? Everything worked fine in the '98 and I didn't make any changes to the harness whatsoever...

thanks in advance guys

1. pull the battery.2. carry it over to your local autoparts store3. ask them kindly to test your battery.

if:1. they find the battery is bad, replace it otherwise continue to step 2.2. check your alternator wiring. Not much is there so it'll be an easy one to check. Make sure the ring terminals are on tight (and clean), make sure the plastic thing on the back of the alternator isn't cracked or gone, the plugs are good and clean and snug. If none of those fixes your problem go to 3.3. cuss and kick up a storm as you're gonna pull your alternator to have it tested. If your parts store says it's bad, weep as you cough up cash. But if they say it's still good, kick yourself in the rear as you effed up good in testing the wiring and plugs.

4. When your car charges properly, put your fists on your hips and laugh triumphantly over the fallen bodies of your conquest.

i was having the same exact problem.. i replaced the alternator that wasn't it. Ended up being the power steering lines touching the ground on the alternator check and see if your running 14 volts on your alt.. make sure all your grounds are good.

thanks for the suggestions, it isn't my car, I'm not anywhere close to it, and the guy thats troubleshooting it is about as smart as a box of hair.

he just now took the battery to a parts store, so i am waiting to hear back from that. He said he is going to put the battery in and drive it over to a shop so they can check it out.

it's probably just a bad ground on the alt...

Also if the two plugs (red thing directly on terminal) off the positive battery terminal are coroded or not plugged in tight it will do the same thing.
