I recently got my windows tinted on my 2010 Maxima SV Sport. I got 35% all around with FormulaONE Pinnacle tints. I was happy when Illinois changed their law to allow tints all around instead of just the back. My car's black so I think it looks real nice--except for one problem. On the rear window the the tints haven't filled in completely around the defrost bars. There's a very small margin around each line. Normally I wouldn't mind, but when driving at night that small little space catches the light from headlights behind me and causes a glare. It's distracting. Has anyone else had this problem with tints not filling in completely over the defrost bars? I remember the guy who installed the tints saying that the new Maxima had thicker defrost lines and the tint film has a hard time filling in over them, but that eventually it should go away. It's been 4 days since I got the tints. Should I take my car back to the guy and tell him to fix it? Or is this just the way it is with everyone? If it comes down to keeping the tints with the glare or no tints at all, I'd rather have no tints.

First of all, welcome to NICO!

I have seen this in every single car that I have had tinted. You might take it back to the guy and ask him, or to another tint shop to get another opinion.

The tint in my Q's back window is PERFECT. No lines around the defrosters. I'd definitely get it redone.

Yes, go back to the shop! The worst thing you can do is not tell them about the issue.

I agree, nothing worse than a poor quality tint job. The tint on the rear window of my '09 Maxima SV Sport is perfect, no flaws at all. The dealer used a 3rd party shop nearby their facility.

I took a couple pictures of my back window to show the tint job. Can you see the tiny space around the defrost lines? And it didn't stick at all around the border of the window. Today I went to the shop where I got the tints done and the guy said there's nothing he can do about this. Is he right or am I being really, really picky? Like I said at the beginning of this thread that little space around the defrost lines is enough to catch the light from headlights behind me and I see reflections of the headlight on EACH defrost line, from top to bottom. If there's something like 3 cars behind me on the expressway the whole window is filled with reflections. So am I being nit picky or should I go somewhere else and have the whole thing redone? Is this what you guy's tints look like? Sorry for the huge a** pictures. [IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]
