Hi there,

By no means do I know what that term means, a technician used it while talking to me.

I have a problem with the "auto air" and the "cd player". From time to time the air/cd shorts out and I can't adjust the level/temperature or even see the cd controls to adjust them. It "blacks out" and won't let me change the settings. When it "blacks out" there are no LEDs lit on for the air conditioning or the cd player.

I phoned a service tech and he said that this is a problem with 2003 G35s and that the cost to replace the "printed circuit board" is approximately $300.00.

My question to you is, if this is a known problem with the G35s should there be a recall on this car for problems with the "printed circuit board"

Probably no recall on non life-threatening items. I haven't heard of this before, but I'm sure it's possible. I assume you're out of warranty?

On newer more electronic intensive designs, electronics are the main reason one purchases an oem extended warranty to 100k.

Beyond that after 100k one learns to use junkyards and repair electronics or spend the money with local dealer or inet discounters.

From the spaceshuttle, home computer motherboards, to a submarine............electrolytic capacitors and solder joints in general are the weak links as they fail from excessive heat and vibrations......eventually.

Amen to that. I've become quite the junkyard rat lately... I find it soothing... padding around with my tools in a knapsack, saying not a word to anyone as I search for hidden treasure. Hell, the whole day could pass by and I wouldn't even notice.

If I'm not mistaken, the A/C control circuits are housed in the radio assembly for the G35 - so that's why you're getting the issues from both the A/C and CD controls at the same time. I guess you could try eBay or something for a take-out radio, if you knew which ones were cross compatible.

Good luck!

Heath
