Hi all. I was trying to use a tap connector to add power from the outlet in the storage box now I have no power down there. Did I blow a fuse or something? I had unplugged the wire to the outlet and had tapped successfully off there before for my radar detector, now there's nothing down there.

This is off an 09.

lol, I have the same issue. But I never use it so I haven't really messed with it any further.

Yep, that fixed it. The Radar detector fired up for about 1 second and then I blew the fuse again...What I've got down there is a pair of wires attached to the outlet via tap clips, and off those wires I have 2 cig. lighter adapters, and now a 12v line running into my trunk. Do I need a stronger fuse or something?

Whats in the trunk? Id say you def need a bigger fuse but not sure if that will cause other issues. The fuse is a certain size for a reason, if you are drawing more current then you are supposed to could cause issues elsewhere?

I'm trying to run 12v to my trunk. I figured I'd use a length of thin lamp cord. It's just insulated stranded wire. This happened when I attached that. It's not running to anything in the trunk yet.

Im no pro, but I dont think this is a good idea. If you need wire that heavy duty I would run it straight off the battery. Not sure what else is on the circuit to the power in the storage box from stock, but I highly doubt that circuit was designed to pull that much current.

What are you planning to run off the 12V in the trunk?

I'm actually adding a backup cam, and there's not really a good key-active 12v back there. Turned out the short was because the end of the wire was frayed and contacting the positive to negative. When I cleaned it up the problem went away.

Cam should be fine, it sounded like you wanted run something bigger than that, I misread.
