Hi all. 2021 Rogue SL AWD premium. Purchased the car new in August. On the drive home, the front park assist sensors began going off when pulling up behind a car at a stoplight or even just stopping at a stop sign. Brought the car in and Nissan dealership confirmed there was a problem. After a few days of troubleshooting, they determined that the main sensor CPU was bad so they ordered a new one. Just had it installed today and it did not solve the issue.

I plan on bringing the car back in but I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar issue. By the way, I’ve tried changing the park assist setting to short, medium and long and it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

We recently had an Armada with the same issue. I had to contact TechLine because the Consult3+ was showing no sensors triggered but the red band was popping up anyway. This is evidently a problem with the C3+ and not the car, it simply can't catch transmission strobes from the sensors even at its maximum sample rate (10 milliseconds). So we basically had no tool that could tell us which of the sensors was false-triggering. TechLine simply told us to replace all 4 sensors, but I can't tell you yet if it worked, the sensors are back-ordered and we're still short a couple.

So the problem is with the actual sensors? The dealership told me the sensors were functioning properly. Is it possible
They’re just aimed incorrectly?

No, the sonar sensors don't adjust in any way, mechanically or electronically. What we found is that they can malfunction without the diagnostic tool being able to detect it. That's basically a problem with the tool and not the car, but it certainly complicates things.

So it sounds like we need to start throwing some parts at it? And here’s the thing. Yes, it’s annoying but it’s also a safety concern. My teenage sons drive the car and they’ve been conditioned to ignore the alerts, all alerts, as false positives. Our solution thus far has been to simply turn off the front sensors. Yesterday the rear sensors triggered when backing out of our driveway which is not steep at all. Very frustrating.

Yah, if they replaced the controller already then there's really nothing else that can cause false triggering. The problem is, the C3+ can't tell us exactly which sensor is misfiring, so all we can do is replace the whole array. Once-in-awhile falsing like you got in your driveway is the price of having sensors powerful enough to do RAB, but constant false alarms, especially in front, can really only be caused by the sensors. Wiring problems will result in codes and not false triggers.

I expect now that Nissan is aware of the problem with the tool, they'll modify the controllers to allow preservation and communication of transmission triggering data. However, I doubt it will be retroactive.

Mine are pretty damn senstive too. They come on leaving the driveway, pulling into the car wash, getting on a ferry, etc. I need to check and see what setting they are on as a default from the factory.
