Hi fellow versa owners,

I've had my versa for 3 months and some of the more common problems are starting to occur. I've had the dealer fixed my front left suspension because everytime when i go over a bump or ditch or just rough surface, there would be a abnormal sound just somewhere under there. Now after 1 week of paying close attention to it, the sound is still there. It sounded like something is dropped onto something. I'm suspecting that the engine mount might loose. The dealer just tighten the suspension. Im planning to take it back for service again.

Another thing is the steering. It pulls to the left a bit when going uphill. Im thinking the two problems could be related. Did anyone experienced this problem?

Get an alignment check (a lot of wheel/tire shops will do the check free, and even the alignment itself shouldn't cost you more than about $50 if it turns out you need one). Both problems are potential symptoms of bad alignment. Also, keep an eye on your tire wear. If it looks abnormal, that's another symptom pointing to a misaligned front end.

One other thing... I know this sounds weird, but check your jack in the trunk. I know the sound isn't in the right place, but it's something easy to check... a few owners have reported a clunking noise in their suspensions going over bumps, and it has been fixed by tightening the jack (which has been put in loose in some cars).

A friend of mine had that problem with his Subaru Impreza Sport Wagon. It turned out that it was, in fact, his jack.

Let us know if it turns out to be the jack. That way we can add you to the growing number of people with the loose jack problem.

So i had the strut replaced (not sure what that does) and it didnt fix my problem. Had another test drive with the mechanic but couldnt figure out the problem. This is the sixth service appointment. This sound only occur on dry, rough surface and doesnt ocuur when it's rainning or on wet surface. I'm not sure if this is a big or small problem but it's taking them a long time to locate the problem and fix it. I dont know how I can trust these guys to fix my car when there's a big problem. In fact, after they touched it, there seems to be more problems. It sounds like the engine vibrate a lot on start up and the ride seems stiff. I wonder how long the V can last.

I have the problem ONLY when I have a passenger in the car. I go over the 6 speed bumps to my house and if I go over just a TAD faster it makes that noise as well.

I'm going to watch this thread and see what you come up with.

I'm watching this thread too. It happens to mine all the time, passenger or no passenger. I'm afraid to take it to the dealer yet...I want them to have figured it out before I even get there...

I can thank my lucky stars that despite everything, this is one thing that did NOT happen to my V.

OK, I am also experiencing the same noise that you are that is coming from under the dash board. When I drive over roads that have small little bumps or ripples I hear something shaking from under the dash board. Now I Know it's not the struts...because it definatley is coming from under the dash. Will i have to pay for any repairs????

No. The diagnostics, troubleshooting, and fix are all covered under warranty. You shouldn't have to pay anything to have them fix your issue. I had the same noise coming from under th dash, but as of a week ago, it stopped. I think it may have been a loose harness banging against some plastic part.
