So I just got my car back from the dealer on the accelerator pedal recall which was covered by the dealer. However, the service advisor then tells me that my actual pedal had a broken tab or (something hooks onto the sensor itself) and I had to come back to fix it. He stated it couldn't be done today because the part
is on back order according to the advisor. He stated "This is a common nation wide problem in conjunction with the recall repair and we have to order the part". Long story short, this is going to cost me another $90 for the part, not sure if they plan on charging me for labor because it shoulda been in today and made part of the recall service.

Is this complete BS? Did this happen to anyone else?

Seems to me that if your pedal was functioning when you took it in for the recall and now a tab is broken ... they broke it! If they try to charge you, do a dramtic scene and demand to see the managrer and threaten to call Infiniti Corp to report them. Worth a try.
And no, I haven't personally seen anyone else report this in the forum.

I second what Larz said with only slight difference. I'd go lite on drama though. Just state that you had no issues with the pedal functionality prior to recall work and it's not right to charge you for it since it is very likely that the tab got damaged during repair. Unless they can prove to you (close to impossible) that it was broken before they opened it up they should fix it. Be polite but firm, and it will go your way.

Good luck

Yea, I'll call them tomorrow and see what they say. I now have this slight play in my pedal when touched with my foot. Just Doesn't feel right. Thanks

A couple things to consider.
1/ I was told that they don't need to touch the actual pedal for the repair, so how did they even find out the tab was broken...or maybe my question to them was a matter of needing to change the pedal since mine are aftermarket stuff. So maybe someone else can verify their need to actually touch the pedal.
2/ do you feel anything different now as far as the pedal and tab issue(beyond the acceleration feel)? If you don't then that means it has always been broken, if you do then that means they broke it. As far as I see its that simple. I really can't see how a tab can be broken from everyday driving.
