When i recently bought my car the seller told me that you had to have the door handle up in order for the door lock to stay locked or else it opens up.

Now the passenger door works fine without having to keep the door handle open so im guessing this can be fixed.

The lock itself work fine and you cant open the door when its locked. The problem is that when the door closes (the little hook that locks the door) it trips the lock button to open agian. But if u keep the door handle open then the door does not trip the lock to unlock.

I was looking at the lock mechanism today and i could see where a problem could be but if you need for info i could take a pic and describe where.

any help would be appreciated!Thanxs

Its called idiot proofing, and it is supposed to do that. It's so you dont accidentally lock your keys in the car.

It's only on older cars. Hondas had it up to 91. Yeah, it's basically to keep you from locking yourself out. You just have to get in the habit. Of course, once you get in the habit, you can still lock your keys in your car cuz you're so used to holding up the damn handle that you don't think about it first. But at least they tried. PEACE. I don't have to do that on my 93 240SX hatch. Being driver and pass side work differently, maybe the lock internals are bent somewhere?

(are we talking about the driver door ?) i have checked the locking mechanism and i see where its causing a conflict but i dont see any way to adjust it so im gunna leave it the way it is (if it aint broke, dont fix it ;) )

Ya i just got this coupe about 2 weeks ago. What happend was saterday i was driving up my street to go home and i saw that car parked on the curb. That was what i exactly wanted so i took pics of it without looking suspisious (didnt want to think im carjacker or anything) and after i planted a piece of paper on his windshield giving him my phone # and E-mail if he wanted to sell it.

Well after a few days he contacted me and said that he is willing to sell it but he gots to look for another car. So about after a week he calls me back and we meet up and he sells me his car for 2300 in the end.

Ya i didnt think that id get a call but it was piece of mind placing one just in case he is selling. I got lucky too cuz it was the first car i planted a paper on. oh and I'm from Riverside bout few miles from Corona.

the seller was actually from Anehiem but he was visiting a friend on my street.
