My switch broke off the circuit board right at the tabs. The switch consists of 2 buttons. One above the number window and one below. The button above selects up and the button below selects down. It will select from 0-7. There are 4 wires connected to the board. One of the wires is bare so I figure that is ground. The problem is I want to try to resolder the switch back on the board but I don't know which way it was on there. On the side of the switch above the tabs there is a letter C, then a 1,2,4, and an 8. Each letter and number is above each tab for a total of 5 tabs. Just above the numbers is gives the brand which is OMRON and I guess the part number which is A7D. Apparently the switch came originally soldered to the board and then you would solder the wires to the underside of the board. Wes you may remember what the switch looked like. I sent the ecu to you a few months back to take a look at it to see if it was functioning correctly. I said that when it was in stock and level 2 that it would not reach above 118 MPH. Please help if possibe. Maybe Robert Bowen will remember. Thanks,MattZephyrhills, FL

Any chance you could take some good photos of the parts you are talking about and post?

I would but I am using a dial up connection and it would take time to get them up. I believe I figured it out. I got the switch and a volt meter, set it to ohms and I put one probe on the first pin with the letter "c" that I belive stands for common (ground) and set the switch on 0 and put the second probe on each of the other pins and found that they were all open, so I set it to 1 and put the probe on the second pin which was now closed but the other 3 pins were open, so I continued by selecting 2 and then 3 which when selected the 2 and 3 pin would ohm 000. I didn't go past 2 which would be level 3. I ended up straight wiring the wire that would be on the 3rd pin which was green to the wire that was not insulated which was connected to the first pin "c". The funny thing is that unless I manually shift the engine, it will not pass 7,000 on the tach before it shifts. Before I straight wired it and the switch was still connected, when I would have it set to level 3, the engine would always race past 7,000 (to 7,300) when I would leave it in drive and now it shifts right at 7 if not before.

That's interesting that it would previously shift that high in drive. The shift points are a function of the TCU, not the ECU so when in drive it will always shift when the TCU tells it to. The rev limit set in the ECU is just that, the rev limit, not the point at where it shifts. Are you positive that it did that or just pretty sure it did?

I am positive of the above. When it is in drive and you hold it to the floor from a dead stop as it goes thru the gears it will shift between 6,800 and 7,000 up to 4th gear. When the switch was still attached and I had it on level 3, It would aways race past 7,000 to 7,300 before each shift. If I had it set to stock, it would do like it is doing now but it would also do it when I manually shift. I don't know why it does it in level 3 now either. I guess it's just one of those freakish things.
