I was changing lane and when i hit the accelerator the car just stayed there. This was the first time this has happened and hasn't happened since. So should i worry. Is this the beginning of something more serious.

Have you had the transmission serviced at regular intervals? After 100k I had similar happen once or twice in my 2k2 but when I got rid of it at 158k it was doing fine. I had it changed over to synthetic after it did it at a traffic light once.

No. The mileage is 175,000 kilometers. So i should change the transmission fluid and replace with synthetic.

I get mine done every 50-60k miles or so. Hopefully the fluid in your car has been changed a couple of times.
