I experienced a problem today with my center console/ac/audio.I got in my G35 this afternoon shortly after stopping. When I started it back up, the A/C went all the way to high automatically, the console buttons did not work to turn it back down. In fact none of the buttons would work for anything on the console. The tape will play, but the screen does not light up.The navi works fine, but that's it.Has anyone come accross this before? Everything worked just fine before I stopped for a short time.

Thanks!!

Any more info on your problem? I have an 03 sedan that just started doing the exact same thing. I have no more warranty and would like to fix the problem myself.

As luck would have it, it has stopped for the present time. I have to wonder if it was brought on by using the tape player for a long period of time. I don't usually play tapes, but the day I did, I had the problem. I have not played any tapes since and no problems to date. Maybe tape player got hot and perpetuated the problem with the circuit board. Dunno?

So this problem still persists and is getting worse. I wondering if I do the JDM conversion on the head unit and climate control, if that will fix the problem. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks!!

If you're under warranty, take it to the dealer. If you're out...it will cost around $300. As far as the new JDM conversion, I think it would work! The problem is in the head deck, so if you remove that than you're AC should work fine.

If you do the mod, let us know how it goes!

I appreciate your answer. Unfortunately I'm not sure replacing the circuit board will eject the four cd's that are currently stuck in the biggest piece of crap excuse for a stereo system. I also do not wish to spend a ton of money on a refurb head unit that was crap to begin with.My intention is to pull the unit and the circuit board out. I will then place it in the dark regions of the brainiac who engineered it.So back to my question: Will the JDM upgrade to a double din head unit with an a/c controller eliminate the problem?

Thanks!

You're in uncharted waters....not many people have done the conversion and those who have haven't had the circuit board issue. I would put my money on YES...the mod removes the head deck/AC board connection. The JDM AC controller plugs directly in another circuit board.

To get the CDs out, you'll need to pull the thing apart or send it off to a repair shop.

I understand about the circuit board only being half of the problem. That was kind of my point. Spend who knows how much to replace that part, then another load of cash to replace a head unit.It would seem a better idea to do the JDM double din conversion, killing two birds with one stone so to speak and getting a much better aftermarket head unit in the end. Thanks for your reply.

Does anyone know what the circuit board costs to replace at the dealer or purchase outright?

Thanks!

Morning, I see that you have a problem with your radio. We have experienced this here, but we have found the problem to be in the radio its self. I am currently at 12/12 on these problems. People claim for this problem to be on circuit board behind the face plate, we have found other wise. We repair about 5 G35 radios on a daily basis.

If you want to send me your radio I can see if I can repair it for $150, but this will only cover the original problem of AC & Controls INOP and I will warranty that for a full year. $225 will cover a whole year warranty for your full unit including AC & Controls, CD Changer & Cassette.

If you send me your radio, and my repair doesn’t work I have a family that live in Clairemont Mesa, he will confirm that it is not working and I will give you a full refund.I hope this can be a win win situation for you & me. Works you pay, doesn’t work you will get your money back. But if it does work I want you help spread the word about your situation and the experience.

George

P.S. I have repaired 3 other NICO Members with the same problem.

Two questions George:

1. There are cd's stuck in the changer from when this problem began. Can you handle that problem as well and what is the cost?

2. What process is involved in removing the unit from the console? Looks a little tricky.

Thanks!

If you get a chance give me a call. 408-209-9113 I would like to work something out that would be fair for both issues you currently have.
