Problem with engine? somebody know whats wrong?

Theres a 240 i want to buy with roughly 160 000 thousand but smokes very heavly. the guy needed to put a set of plugs just to drive it down the orad. do i need a new engine or can i fix it for cheap?

Depends on what kind of smoke. It could be running ridiculously rich (black smoke, should be an easy repair once diagnosed), burning water (white smoke, blown head gasket, cracked head, or cracked block), or burning oil (light blue smoke, engine rebuild).
