I changed my transmission fluid yesterday. Since its manual, I used gear oil. What does everybody use? what grade? I was looking for the one that Chilton recommends but the closest I got is API GL-5. Chilton recommends API GL4 for manual.

Anyway, after changing the transmission fluid. My clutch pedal feel has no resistance half way down. It was already dark and cold so I didnt make bleeding on the master cylinder or slave cylinder. I'm hoping to get to it tonight. But why will I have to adjust or bleed the clutch pedal? how would air get in it?

I drained the fluid from the bottom and refill it from the shifter.

Another problem I get now is, I am having difficulty putting the shifter to any gear except 5th!! It's a bit better now but it is still not smooth. Maybe I tighten the shifter too much?

I will get to it after work but if I can get a good heads up then it will make my search go faster. Thanks in advance.

first off did you use enough transmission oil? second, if you did use enough then drain the oil and fill it with redline MTL, it's probably the best gear oil i've personally seen/used, it'll make shifting a breeze. i don't see why changing the transmission fluid would effect the clutch's operation. maybe nistech will grace you with one of his magical answers that he pulls out of who knows where, he's always right on the money.
