Hello. Its been a while...

So... finally my RS-1000 stopped working after a year. Both OLED and spare remotes are not communicating with the alarm system(I only used my spare remote when I first got my system installed). So I'll probably take the whole alarm system off.

I'm a newbie when it comes to alarm system and autostarter. Unlocking the doors with factory FOB and opening the door will trigger the alarm. Is there a way i could turn on the car without triggering the alarm? Would my engine start if I try to turn it on after alarm goes off? What can I do to drive my car to a shop?

I need this resolved ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. is it true that RS-900 remote works with RS-1000? If thats true... I'll go with RS-900 remote and not spend close to $200 on RS-1000 remote and keep my system.
Also, what the hell is a valet switch?

no need to take the whole alarm system off... you can reset the system.. simply follow the instructions here http://www.autopageusa.com/resources/C3 ... ations.pdf
on how to add a remote to your car. You can try to re-install the remotes you already have.

the RS-1000 alarm system drops the communication with the remotes from time to time. The company knows about it! Take it back to the dealer where you got the alarm installed and haave them replace it for you. tell them taht you know that autppage is aware of this type of issue and that you want the most updated remote for the car. (They are on like the third revision of the RS-1000 remote due to flaws in the previous versions that cause the exact same scenario you described). Your scenario happened to me like 4 different times. I'm literally on my 5th RS-1000 remote, and I got all of them replaced through my installer

if you didn't purchase the alarm from the place that did the install, then they will NOT replace your remote for free! In that caase, you need to eitehr buy a new RS-1000 remote off of the internet (i got my off of ebay) or you CAN purchase and use the RS-900 remote with the RS-1000 larm system.

Also, the valet switch is usually hidden inside of the car under the kickplate down by your feet. or under the carpet down there. you will need to access that to install the new remote or reprogram your old one!

Yeah, this happened to me several times with the RS-1000 remote. I 've fixed the problem by buying the RS-900 remote and I have not had any issues for well over a year using the RS-900 remote with my RS-1000 system. It's to much of a hassle to keep replacing the OLED remote. I would just get the RS-900 remote and use it with your RS-1000 system.

Ok I called up the place and found out the location of valet switch. So I was able to turn off the alarm when I opened the door.

So..... I found out the problem with my RS1000.

The reason why my remotes were not communicating with the module is b/c... the plug that gets plugged into antenna was loose. Actually... the plug it self wasnt loose... the contact was. So after playing around with the plug and antenna... I was able to get the remote to start working again. But the fix wasnt permanent. The contact kept getting loose and I kept looking the ability to use the remote. So for now, I'll just keep the alarm disengaged and use factory alarm.

Thanks for your help though.

Are you 100% sure on this, Rob?

My RS1000 remote finally started acting up. Went to Car Audio Heaven and the dude told me that a RS900 remote would not be compatible, and tried convincing me to install a complete new alarm system

Didn't know that Jeff left that place :( Saw your rear bumper tho! :dblthumb:

The RS 900 pager is less expensive and more reliable from what I've been hearing, it would be awesome if it can be used.

if they told you anything different, they lied to you. The RS-900 works perfectly with the RS-1000 alarm system. The only reason that it might not is if they tried to use the RS-900 remote that's compatible with the new C3 alarm systems! but the normal RS-900 remote works just fine, as the guy posted above.

you need to have the original install company re-install the alarm, or fix this one!

Looks like the only RS900 pagers for sale online are C3
