problem with aftermarket head unit.

i installed an aftermarket head unit using the best buy connectors. at first i thought i had to wire the dimmer to the constant wire, that caused big problems. so i wired everything up according to the correct colors and now the only thing that happens is the mast for the power antenna trys to go up, its broken so it cant. i get power to the wires that should have power when the switch is on/off. i saw the head unit work, it was in one of my other cars. my nissan came with an aftermarket(junk) radio and it worked sort of. any ideas? head unit broken? grounds?
