Hello everyone, I just bought a 1994 q45 today with 135K mi., noticed that the AC did not gets cold, so I bought a refill canister, but when I measure the pressure, it shows the pressure is higher that normal and per the instruction refilling is not alllowed (RED ZONE) ..... any how, what would be the problem? your help is greatly appreciated = thanks in advance - Henry

Give us high and low pressures and ambient temperature and barometric pressure.

I agree, we dont really know too much until we know what the high and low side pressures are.

If low side is too high and high side is too low, then your compressor needs replaced. I assume the compressor is kicking on (the middle part spins). Probably what the cause is, but it could be way overcharged if high and low side is too high.

Take it to an AC shop, or buy yourself a gauge set for like $80.

Per the instruction, I only measure the Low and it was like 65 psi (?) at the red zone of the meter. the ambient temp was 87, I will probably measure the High (is it the same process?... start the engine then open the cap, the hook up the meter??? sorry I'm very "mechanical challenge")...thanks guys

you cant use that gauge, you will have to buy a gauge set. If you can take it to a shop they can hook it up and tell you the pressure in a few mins. Might be easier and slightly more cost effective than buying a gauge yourself.

Even AC for a trained ASE certified technician is not a cakewalk.

You really should consider taking it to a automotive AC shop that does nothing but AC.

Always have your FSM handy as different brands use slightly different amounts of R-xxx and different high low pressures .

What you don't want is a good enough pressure from memory or a good enough low weight recharge.

You want every single psi and every 1F of cooling or minute of cool down time.

I used the gauge provided with the canister , not a separate one !
