Problem with a headlight

Guys,

My Q45 '94 is at about 165K now, holding strong. My low beam passanger headlight stopped working (high beam is fine). I thought must be the bulb and without thinking twice bought a new one. After replacing the bulb the low beam still does not work. I checked the voltage between the three pins and it goes only to 4.5v as opposed to the working low beam on the driver's side that goes up to 12v when on. This puzzled me quiet a bit (did a basic check for fuses that are located just above the passanger headlight, and all seem to be fine).

What could happen that it does not get enought voltage at low beam??

It's right next to the radiator overflow bottle on the PS in the engine compartment. I have a few if you find that you need one.

Is there a short somewhere burning out the relay? Did you check the connectors close? Brittle wires? See "Location of Electrical Units" in the EL section of the FSM if you can't find the relay.

Thanks for the advice. Do you know how can I check that relay whether it is functioning correctly (could not find how to test it in the manual)?

You can try and see if there is continuty between the pins, But easier to replace and see if its the problem or not.

I happen to have one by the way.

Thanks to all of you who contributed to this thread. I got a swap headlamp relay from goody94q45 (excellent person btw) and it solved my problem.
