I have a 90 240sx with the stock ka24e. It was starting fine a couple of days ago. I swapped my 300zx brakes in the front. Now I can't get it to start at all.

When I crank it, it cranks strong and fine. It's been rich for a while and the EGR is stuck in place which I think is part of the rich problem. But it was running well enough to drive before. Now I went to start it the other day to check my brakes. It wouldn't crank over unless I held the gas all the way down. Then it started but only revved to 2000 rpm and as soon as you let off the gas pedal it would slam flat on it's face off.

Today I tried to start it after cleaning and replacing the IACV and it won't start at all (also it's freezing outside not helping it any).
I have an aeromotive FPR and it's reading the proper fuel pressure from the pump so I know the pump is working. I keep hearing an odd buzzing noise randomly (not steady) under the hood (really loud with the hood open). It's grounded properly and the ignition is direct wired so I think it has got to be something to do with the IACV or one of the relays but I'm not positive. Any suggestions?

I'm going to go through all my sensors tomorrow to make sure they're all working. Anything specific that would cause these symptoms? I've searched but I get too many different answers to pin point my problem and most don't start ever with a buzzing attached. Thanks in advance.

If you are getting fuel, and it has good compression, odds are you are not getting fire. Check for fire coming from the plugs. If not, youtube ericthecarguy. He is the s***. Post results and good luck

It sounds like your ECU could possibly have been kicked into limp mode. You could see if the ECU threw any codes, try this link and see if you get anything.

The 2000rpm rev limit sounds like a mass air flow issue. could also be your hard start issue if it has gone bad. id go through the fsm and id personally start at the maf.

here is a link to the fsm if you dont have it downloaded already. i have these things saved on my laptop and phone, cant tell you how many times they have come in handy.

Got it fixed. I was trying to check my compression. On the first cylinder, it said 130psi. I'm like BS tester. I was about to throw the engine out at this point. So I checked the other cylinders and it said 0. I'm like you're lying lol. So then I just finished swapping my spark plugs. Started right up.
From running rich, my spark plugs just got too fouled up. Now to fix the rich problem. Thanks for everyone's help.
