I have had my 280 76 for about a year & 1/2. It drove like a charm for all that time a few weeks ago on a fishing trip 30 miles from where i live i turned o my car to save gas (what an idea). When ever i tried to start the car again (10 mins later) it wouldn't start back up. tried jump starting it didn't work. Then we took out all the gas thinking theres was water in my gas. put some new gas with water separator stuff didn't work. the next day i tried turning on the car and it stayed on then. I turned it off thinking there was water in the fuel line. Then we i tried starting it again didn't turn on. I took to a mechanic they dont much about datsun . they mad it start but they took out a fuel part so it wouldn't clog up the engine. because every time i try to start it it clogs up the car. It sound like it wants to turn on in a way. can anybody please it me. This car is my pride and joy.

I'm a bit confused here, a mechanic took off a part taht was clogging causing the problem? but offerend not long term solution? assuming it's a clogging fuel filter it's likely due to rus in the tnak, if this si the case you can buy a replacement or have yours cleaned and sealed, or even buy a cleaning sealing kit form eastwood or similar, this help at all?

Another option is that it's a bad Starter coil. When they start to go out they tend to do exactly what you are describing. Essentially they only work when cold.
