Well, after rotting my brains over what was causing super bad turbo lag and lawn-mower sounds, i took a closer look. After adding 3psi, im going with it knocked my turbo loose off the exhuast manifold...

The gap is now double that....

Is there supposed to be a gasket? I thought there was supposed to be a metal gasket.

myself and others here have had this happen. chances are your square 4 bolt exhaust turbo gasket blew out and is causing the screws to back out at an increasing rate. just get a gasket from nissan for a z32 t25. oh and have fun replacing it

doesn't look hard. Thought i would be able to take that cover off, loosen ex mani, take off DP, should be able to pull the turbo off enough to replace it?

Will i be able to get away temporarly by just tightening it up?

Also, what causes this? (Me adding 3psi w/o a BOV (Turbo shock?))

chances are if its already that loose, that part of the square gasket has broken and blown out. at least thats what happened with mine. I had a pretty crappy time with this job, seeing as how the turbo has four bolts with lock tabs on them and some bolts can be a pain to get to. i'm not that mechanically inclined though.

This is why I am soooo glad I replaced all those gaskets before swapped the engine in the car. Even though my motorset was super clean when I got it, that four bolt gasket looked like crap.

Heavy1metal, those gaskets are notorious for going bad for all the heat and stress placed on them.

On a side note, why are you running 10psi without a BOV? Im sure that didn't help the situation. You're going to kill your turbo. Even the stock recirculation valve on the sidemount is sufficient.

i had the same problem... buy your gasket from here http://www.courtesyparts.com/M...SR20Tand pull off everything around the manifold an pull off the manifold with the turbo, replace that gasket and i replaced the manifold gasket while it was out also... Just buy some lock tight for the bolts on the turbo/manifold..

i've replaced that sucker twice now. And it always sucks. You can refer to my "locktabs are evil" thread.

But basically to get to it, you'll have to pull the turbo and exhaust mani out of the car, knock the lock tabs loose, unscrew the nuts holding the turbo on, and then replace/reinstall. One not on the locktabs, take an open ended wrench and use it to shape the locktabs to the shape of the nut, and then beat at them some more to make sure they're super flush to the nuts. Otherwise, they will vibrate loose again, and you'll have to replace all that again. Don't ask how I know that

thanks for the help guys. after going at it today, i just realized that i've got to take everything off. :-( . One of my friends said he just runs w/o a gasket and ano says to use a liquid gasket. to me liquid might not be able to hold the pressure, and not having one would still cause a leak.... lol barely fitted a wrench in there to snug it up for the time being.

Tenkawa: Just did a thread search on ur "evil nuts." and realized at the same time you're from roanoke. I lived in roanoke for 14 years lol. Right off of orange avenue. Also lived in salem for a little while.

no crap?! I've been here for a good 21 years now. I live out rt 221 a ways towards Bent Mountain, but thankfully not on top of the mountain. Small world.

I've heard of liquid gasket being used, but I don't trust it. The heat coming through there would cook LG in a heartbeat.
