I have a 93 S13 Vert with 95K miles. I have been slowly but surely getting to several maintenance items that needed tending too and recently I replaced the fuel injectors (all 4).

After the install the car drove great and had no noticable problems. I brought the car home, parked it and let it sit for a few hours before trying to drive it again. On this trip it started blowing massive amounts of white/gray smoke and smelled of gas.

Upon inspection of the newly installed injectors I noticed that several of the lower O rings were torn. I replaced the O Rings....lubbed them up a little with some WD40 and then reinstalled the injectors. Still blowing smoke and reaking of gas.

I then bough 2 more injectors (all that the local parts store had) and replaced #3 and #4. Upon restart...more smoke.

I have pulled the plugs and none seem to be wet with gas which would indicate to me that gas is pouring into the cylinder.

With the engine running I can pull the spark plug wires and/or the fuel injector harnesses and on all but the #2 cylinder it retards the motor.

What am I missing? Just want to get this thing running good so I can list it up for sell!!!

Thanks!

did you try replacing the lower bushings under the fuel rail when you put in the new injectors? i just had the same issue in my 95 after doing the injectors the smoke is unburned fuel thats why it smells run it for a min and then pull your plugs and that will tell you which are not sealed properly the plug should be wet. i pulled mine and pushed it back in and after the fuel in the exhaust burned off it was fine. took like a 5 min ride till it all burned off. does your car shake alot when idling? are they the right injectors? lemme know whats up.

affirmative...the car shakes a lot when idling. i have pulled the plugs after running the motor for a short while, but not of them are wet. i would expect one to be almost soaking wet based on the amount of gas coming out of the exhaust, but none are that way. just a lot of carbon build up on a couple of them and they are fairly new plugs.

what bushing is this under the fuel rail?

thanks!

I wanted to post a link but its too long. If you search on autozone.com for fuel injector o rings you can see a picture. I believe that the one he is talking about is the bigger one of the four from the picture they show. You can remove these when you remove your fuel rail. I don't remember if they are accessible without doing so...but maybe. They sit on the block under the fuel rail.

Good luck.

update

the car was still pushing a little smoke yesterday so we checked the ohms on the injectors and all checked out in range. i was concerned because the injectors were remanufactured ones.

still wasn't running right and was still smoking so we got to checking other things and we found that the O2 sensor was not functioning properly. after a quick disconnect and reconnect it started to work and since then the car has driven fine. not hardley any smoke any more. i think its finally burned out all of the fuel in the cat.

hopefully its good to go! thanks for all of the input!
