I've noticed a click at acceleration when I first drive the vehicle. It only happens when I drive the car for the first time on any given day. After backing out of my garage, I pull forward in first gear and "ONLY" in the morning do I feel a click through the pedal. I also can hear it coming from the engine.

Any thought/ideas???

How many miles are on the car, when did it start happening, can you pin point where its coming from (engine, wheels, axles, ect?) Dropping it off at your local Nissan dealer wouldn't be a bad idea.

I have just under 800 miles on the car and have noticed the clicking for about 2 weeks now. The click sounds like it's coming from the engine or possibly under the dash, but deep towards the firewall. only happens when first driving for the day, never any other time. I do have to take the car in for a pull to the left for the third time, so I'll have to mention the click.

I'm guessing Valves. Pretty common, unless it gets really loud.

if you have the car on and you stand outside you can hear the valves. I never hear them in 1st gear.

Do you have ABS brakes? I read a while ago on one of these posts that the ABS brakes do a self test each time you drive the car after a period of time... daily I imagine. However, I would describe it as a "knocking" sound more than a click, wouldn't you think?

Basically, if you do have ABS brakes, it is perfectly normal and I hear it each time I drive. My wife brought it up to me as well. Hell, mention it to the mechanic next time you bring it in and let us know what the "horse" has to say about it.

Cheers!

I hear mine in the car when the radio is not on, just when 'cold'.

Other thoughts could be a rock in the tire or brakes/rotors.

That's interesting you would say that because I do only hear it once a day as I stated. The ABS System check would only be done once a day. That would explain why. When I get to work in the morning shortly after 7am, I don't drive the Versa until I get off at 6pm, and it "does not" do it then. Only in the morning. You might have just nailed the issue. Thanks!!!

I had a clicking noise that I was sure was coming from the front drivers wheel last summer. It sounded to me either like a CV joint or perhaps a cable was ticking against the inside of the tire rim. I noticed it as soon as I started moving forward and it would go fast the faster I drove. I couldn't hear it after about 35mph but I wasn't sure if that was because I couldn't hear it over other road noises or that it stopped. I took it to the dealer and they found a small rock in the treads of the tire and that was it - the sound went away.

I have no idea if that could be the sound you're hearing, but it could be.

Sorry for not being clear earlier, but the clicking I hear is just ONE click as I first accelerate, not multiple clicks. I know I wrote clicking, but I meant that more as in it does it everyday.

From the owners manual.....

The computer has a built-in diagnostic feature thattests the system each time you start the engineand move the vehicle at a low speed in forward orreverse. When the self-test occurs, you may heara clunk noise and/or feel a pulsation in the brakepedal. This is normal and does not indicate amalfunction.

This is done once everytime you start and move the car. It might be that it's more pronounced in the morning because the car will be at its coldest temperature at that time.

Thank you charlybasset, brainguyus and everyone who shed some light into my morning click noise. I am convinced that this issue is a self-test, and nothing to worry about anymore. I'm glad I signed up to this forum. Thanks to all!

Brought vehicle in for brake issue.....Lead tech heard my engine knocking from the next bay. Long story short-12 days and a new $3000 engine baby! It is a 2011 1.8L S hatchback w/AT and only 25,500 miles.
Apparently the 1.8L suffers from piston-slap which caused my vehicle to shake violently at times-especially at start up or upon acceleration. When taken apart they said my cylinder walls were beaten/scored and the piston rings were shot.
If anyone reading this hears clicking, grinding or anything of that sort-take it to Nissan-they know it's an issue.
The new engine started right up and gues what? No knocking and hardly a shimmy!

Does the extended warranty from Nissan cover this?
