1997 J30t, 140k, bought used with recently with only a "For Nissan" key that is not factory original.

1) Bought keyless entry from ebay A269ZJA0732) Locked/Closed all doors, pulled trunk release, (which starts flashing the security light) inserted key into ignition more than 10 times in 10 seconds3) Manually unlocked and then relocked drivers door (I can hear the click under the dash as I relock it)4) Held down lock doors button on keyless (tried pressing it quickly as well)

Didn't hear anything, no response from car, keyless still doesn't work. Bought another keyless fob from ebay, exchanged batteries, repeated steps and still didn't work.

Is there something wrong with both keyless fobs? Or both batteries? Or is there a fuse or part I should check on the automobile itself? Or am I doing the programming wrong? I've tried several more times and never get any response.

How much does it go for (scotsdale quoted me $480!!) and how difficult is the install? (Its in the rear quarter panel on left)

Can someone send me a FSM? Or tell me if there is anyway to test mine remote control unit first?

I see a little difference in your procedure and what Infiniti told me (pop the trunk first before locking doors, then only insert 6 times in 10 seconds, then manually unlock and re-lock the driver's door)

This says it is only for the 1993/4 J30.

Also, you might be using the wrong FCC code. Take your VIN number to the parts department, and ask about the FCC code for the correct remote. The guy should be cool about it and give it to you:

TECHNICAL BULLETIN ITB93-068

J30/G20/Q45 Remote Transmitter Programming

Applied Models: 1993-94 J30; 1993.5 G20; 1994 Q45

SERVICE INFORMATION:

The proper procedure for programming additional remote controllers is listed below.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

While sitting inside the vehicle:

1. Open the trunk.2. Close and lock all doors.3. Insert and remove the key from the ignition six (6) times within ten (10) seconds.4. Manually unlock and lock the driver’s door once (1) to enable “setting” mode.5. Push the lock button on the new remote controller once (1), just long enough to hear it beep, within five (5) seconds of completing step 4.6. If additional remotes are needed (up to 3), repeat steps 4 and 5 for each additional remote immediately after programming the first remote.

Note: A total of four (4) remotes can be programmed to function on the same vehicle.

For additional information, please refer to page BF-38 of the 1993 and 1994 J30 Service Manuals; page BF-17 of the 1993 G20 Service Manual Supplement; and page EL-148 of the 1994 Q45 Service Manual.

Does anyone know if the 1997 J30 Remote Control Unit is unique to the vehicle, or is it exchangable with other infinitis and nissans?

Compatibility is determined by the FCC number. Look at your Owner's Manual.

I had the same problem on my second Q. You have the right remote becasue the FCC code ends with... 73. I figured I was doing the right procedure, but the problem was that I had my trunk popped but it wasn't popped up all the way. It was open, but not wide open. As soon as I pumped the trunk wide open, it worked (1)! Good Luck! Also Make sure your battery is in correctly. Sometimes it could be as simple as the battery being upside down in the remote (2). -Evan (East Coast)

I agree sometime the Infiniti FOB needs the battery pulled to finish erasing the old code.

Remove the battery for 1 min and reinsert it also you might try pulling the receiver from the trunk just for a min.

Try to reprogram the FOB after you pull the battery and the receiver. Can't hurt and worked for me...
