It seems that my Z31 only does this at random times but every once in a while when I start my car up, the RPM's will drop to 0 right away and my car will stall. The only way to get past it when it does this is to rev my engine up right away which I know can't be good for it. I have to keep reving for a while and then after that my RPM's will be stable and fine and my engine won't stall. Keep in mind my engine is completely fine after I start it up the first time, when I stop at a light etc. it will not stall, just after being parked. When I rev the engine to keep it going it sounds like something is un-clogging, I hear somewhat of a banging noise. I took the car to a mechanic and explained to him this problem and he said he would check it out. He found nothing wrong with it. I am really puzzled as to why it is doing this and it is getting worse and worse as the days go on, and happening more and more frequently. I was hoping that one of you would have some advise.

Also, currently I am putting power steering fluid into my car once every month or so. I shouldn't be having to fill it so often. Every month though the power steering fluid is 100% drained, I am puzzled to why it is doing this since I can't find a leak at all.

Thanks in advance for your help guys, it is appreciated.

as far as your cold start bogging goes. could be a couple things 1 would be your FICD mounted on the passenger side of the plentium. long cylinder with an electrical connector on the plastic side of it. If you have no fast idle this unit is done. 2 it could be your head temp sensor connector square black connect right by the timing cover oopisite the dist. [same type of connector as the one by your egr. unplug it and check the resistance between both wires. if it is open [no continuity] you need to replace that harness going down behind the timing cover and the head temp sensor at the end of it.

as far as you P/S fluid leak look at the rack boots if fluid is coming from that area your rack seals are blown. if your lucky you can replace the seals if you can find them available. otherwise its a new rack.

well if your putting power steering fluid in yout power steering fluid resivoir I found your problem, you car uses automatic trans fluid in the steering ! yeah I know most poeple don't know this and that's why so many have leaks, PS fluid is mush thinner than ATF, I had to replace the rack on my Z#! casue the proir owner had made the same mistake, and the rebuilt racks are not cheap best deal I found was from Strano's in PA, and I 'd suggest you replace the tie rod ends while your at it, they are almost 20 years old now!and sounds like the Cylinderhead Temp sensor to me on your start problems, kinda a pain to get to it as I recall
