well i finished installing the BOV permently and i was testing the whole system and i noticed something that seemed strange. when i was revving up the engine, i noticed that when i let go of the gas air/pressure was coming out of the air intake instead of coming out of the bov. i am wondering if this is normal or do i have something installed incorrectly. now the car runs fine idle fine. oh the sound it makes after i let go of the gas is the tripple phish phish phish..

do you have your bov hooked up to manifold vacuum?

yeah i have it hooked up to the intake mani vac.(bov is connecte to the cold pipe, the one going to the intake mani via a hose, and a vac line is going to the TB ) i followed the instructions, also i blocked the stock return pipe to the air intake pipe with the provided blocking cap.

The BOV may be too tight and that sound could be compressor surge.

im sure that sound you are hearing is comp surge, speed racer is right the bov is probably too tight, or seized, see if you can get it to actuate by hand what kind of blow off valve is it anyway?

It is a ARC bov. i have heard this sound b4 on other SR's ( the yellow kouki in best motoring ) but i always thought it was from the BOV not coming out of the air intake the air intake is ARC as well.

ok i loosened the bov bolt a bit so now there is air coming out of the bov however there is still pressure coming out of the air intake. i'll post pics in a few, just need to get them put on a website first since this place does not take pics straight from the computer.

The ARC BOV should make a high pitched chirp that is somewhat quieter than the HKS SSQV. A small amount of compressor surge is ok, but try to get rid of most of it.

loosen it up the spring a little more as long as it doesn't leak at idle its fine. under no load a little compressor surge isn't bad but if it is surging under full boost thats not so good.

Thanks guys i'll loosen up the screw a bit more tomorrow. i had locked my keys inside the car last night so i did not get to work on it as much as i wanted. i had changed the alternator yesterday so i was working on putting things back together, and cleaning up the wires a bit making the engine bay cleaner and more organized. i think i blew a fuse somewhee since the headlights and taillights dont work anymore. the plan is to fix the bov problem and the other stuff tomorrow. also i need to redo the alternator since i did not change the belt wheel and now it is making some noise.
