Hello

Im in the process of trading in a used 05 Maxima for something smaller & more economical. Can you guys that have had your Versa's for a while tell me what you like and dont like about them ?

Also, has anyone had a oppurtunity to drive it in the snow ? I live outside of Boston and that would be a major point for me

Many of us have had the privilege of driving in snow . . . some deeper than others.

I was OK with the stock tires; others said they needed winters.

Cons seem to be quality control -- some have had horrific luck with their V's; others such as me no problems -- and gas mileage not as good as advertized.

Pros: the cost and the leg room.

I'd buy another one if I were looking for something small and not very peppy (I guess that's a con if that's what you are looking for).

I bought an S just for the value as I wanted a car just for the kids to drive. I looked at an SL, but the cost was approaching base Civic cost which is actually fairly well loaded and IMHO a better car.

The major Con --- the bar right beside the windshield & the front door

I find out it's very annoying to get used to that weird angle

only con i can think of is the power locks don`t engage when you start the car...

hopefully they worked out the bugs with the fuel pump issue, steering knock and the bluetooth...

I love my Versa SL. I have had it for 5 months and love it. I added every feature possible, sport & tech package plus CVT transmission. It is such a smooth ride and the car has a lot of power. About the locks not locking when you start the car, many cars don't lock. Look at any sports car and the locks don't engage when you start the vehicle. Generally it is minivans and SUVS that do. I know alot of people with similar style vehicles (Matrix, Vibe, and Mazda 3 hatchback) and none lock when the key is turned. In my opinion it is safer this way. If you are in an accident, at least someone from the outside could rescue you if the doors are unlocked.

yea, mostly after market alarm systems lock when the ignition is engaged, i just said that cuz i`ve had no complaints with my V for the past year...

...although it does make it easier to get car jacked, lol but when you get out with the intelligent key, the car would just turn off anyway, LOL

our SL with i-key doesn't shut off if you get out with the key. it keeps running, and beeps at you when you shut the door. i can lock it, go inside somewhere, come back out, unlock, get back in, and it's still running.

See this recent thread:zer...versa

IMO, the SL upgrades are well worth the extra $ over the S.

I've been very happy with the S model HB, I've had mine about a month and found no room to complain at this point, there are alot more features on a SL than a S, however my Versa after all the extras I wanted on it were in place were about a $1000 less and it meet my needs (Power Package, ABS, Spoiler, Splash Guards, ect that comes standard). It just depends if you want to cross that threshold. Only con I can think of at this point that may be a con is the lack of a CVT in the S model, however I've done very well with a 4 spd. auto. So in that respect, its a matter of what you are truly wanting. If your wanting value and some extra perks, I suggest the S, if you are wanting some of the more upper scale features, I suggest the SL.

I compared the S and the SL before buying took them both out for drives and looked at the price and I liked the SL way better than S, CVT transmission in my opinion is worth the money, I suggest you look at what you really need before going into the dealership, bells and whistles are nice but if you dont need it save your money.

Versa with CVT & stock tires is no snow plow.

'L' on CVT is needed for startup on slippery grades but is set too low a ratio for mimicking driving around in deep snow like 2nd with a 4AT.

Less weight over the snout than your Max = winter tires.

I've had my V 2 years plus. No problems.

I'd keep the Max if me.
