So I'm going to be starting my car up here in a few days with all my new toys going on it one at a time so I can diagnose everything as it goes on. my question is.

I installed an Oil cooler and ran all my oil lines. Before I slap the turbo on there I want to test out my feed line and drain line that easy enough. I also know I'm going to need to add about 1/2 quart more due to the fact that I have an oil cooler. So I decided I'm going to run about 4.5 quarts.

Should I just pour the oil into my oil pan and turn the car right over, or should I turn it over a couple of times with out the fuel pump fuse to prime everything. Or at least until I see oil squirt out of the oil feed line?

Oh good idea on the oil verification. The oil pan needs to have a specific amount of oil in it no matter how much oil there is distributed through out the appliances right? So here is my next question when I do my oil change how do I makes sure that all my oil is emptied out of my oil cooler too? Or does that automatically happen when I open my drain plug?

1. fill the oil cooler as much as possible and then reseal2. prime untill you get oil to the turbo for a few seconds3. recheck oil level

And you will have no worries!

As long as you change your oil on-time then do not worry about draining the oil cooler, the old oil will stay in there and mix with the new there is no problem with that.

Or, if you are worried for the old oil, diconnect one of the hoses for the cooler and blow air to drain the cooler thru the system. Keep in mind that you will need to re-prime the system again by cranking several times (remove the spark plugs so the engine sping faster and easier)As fo rthe oil level, add the standard amount (I use 4 full quarts, filling the oil filter) then keep adding until normal level.
