I'm new to the Infiniti search party, as I was previously looking at 06-07 CTS-Vs...these cars really peaked my interest, so I'm checking these out compared to the V's. I'm looking at the 2008 G37 S...what should I be looking for price wise from dealers and private parties? Assume it's an 08 G37 S, with 35-45k miles. I have some dealers in the low 28s...but like I said, I'm new and don't know what is an acceptable range of prices. Thanks.

EDIT: I thought the S models were manual transmissions...why am i seeing automatics and 6 spds with OD?

I traded in my 08 in February. The dealer gave me 24k and asked 28k. I don't know what they got, but the car went quick. It was a coupe, not an S and had 30k miles and the technology package.

There is no comparing a G to a General Motors product.

Dealer has an 08 G37 S, Blue, with 25k on it and 6 spd manual w/ OD selling for 28k...this a good price? From an "online only dealer" top rated on ebay...

I looked into the CTS-V, but my wife hated the styling, plus it was a bit pricey. I think the older V's were manual only, and I wanted an AUTO. Next, the BMW M3 was even more expensive and harder to find a slightly used one. The G8 GXP...in my price range, but again hard to find a good used one. I didn't want the regular GT. So that left the G37 and BMW 335i sedans. The 335i was about 12-15k more for the same options than the G37 (NAV, Sport, Premium). Also, there is a problem with the 335i's fuel pump and cooling in the earlier models. The G37 was just a better choice.

For my 2009, which was the outgoing model as they were getting the 2010's in when I bought in FEB '10 MSRP was 43k with Sport, NAV and Premium options. Got it down to 34k to give you an idea of what they went for.

A few months ago I was looking at an 08 G37S MT with < 20K. They got as low as $24.5K. Not sure what it eventually sold for. It was like new in and out.
But, with the problems in Japan, prices may have gone back up a bit.
I know that the local Nissan dealer is out of Jukes and is down to their last Z and don't expect any anytime soon.

Looked at another 08 G37S recently but was an auto. THey were asking $29.8K....They normally drop the price after a few weeks. It was gone in less than 1 week, so I'm guessing they got close to what they were asking.

Today we are buying a 2009 G37x at the local Infiniti dealer for $30k OTD. It has only got 13k miles. It's in perfect shape, inside and out. Trading in our 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. I'm pretty excited.

^ Careful there APC. That G has a lot more ponies then your Hyundai.

I would expect an 08' model SPORT Coupe to go anywhere between $23k and $26k depending on the mileage. My car with almost 54k miles is still worth $21k. It is a 08' sport coupe as well. That was an apprisal I got prior to the Japan disaster. I'm sure I can get $500 more now, hehehe.

Why are dealers asking 28k-32k for these still, then?

Because they are car dealers

So should I be haggling for 23-26k or is this an impossible task?

No not impossible. Depending on your locating pricing will be different. You should be buying a 09 or a 10 model to be honest. They come in AWD as well, and may be perfect for your location as well. Sedans and coupes come in Sport as well as AWD. You should opt for this model as it is best and comes with different features. You may be able to find one with no NAV, but any other options will come and you won't be able to change it. My opinion, go fully loaded.

Base, no options
Journey, mild options,(includes awd I believe)
Sport, tons of features

Add some miles and you may pay 26k-30k for a used one, depending on mileage.

In the south the cars are cheaper and all the good ones go to FL!

Yeah, I was asking about coupes...like you said, most are going for 29kish and dealers are dropping them down to 28-28.5k. Should I be looking for a manual in these cars? Are these better than the paddle shifters?

The question on the manual or auto is one that you will have to answer on your own. That opinion is a whole lot of other topics of threads. Test drive an auto and a manual and see which one you like. ALso take into account that if you are in the city or in a lot of traffic jams the manual may get tiring.
Also the 08 G37s had the 5 speed automatics while 2009 and foward have the 7at. The 08 manual on up are the same basically
The price for an 08: you should be able to find one in the 25k range with decent miles on it. paying near 30 is too much.
