SO we finally got our fully loaded "S" last night and we really love it. Truth be told I would have bought an SL with JUST CVT and ABS, however THEY DON"T MAKE IT!A loaded "S" is missing the upgraded sound, Cruise, armrest, and wheels--but the price diff from a base SL w/CVT is only a few hundred bucks. That is a heck of a lot of upgrades for 200-300 bucks. So you could buy an SL for $300 more than a loaded S and then get all the great benefits of the SL and add another $250 for ABS making the greatest car of all time right....WRONG:(

You can't get ABS without ponying up $2000-3000 for all the bells and whistles on an SL, it makes the one major saftey option raise the price of this great little car to almost CIVIC like proportions.

I am really just ranting and looking to see if anyone else chose the "S" for this reason. Or if you chose the SL did you find one with ABS and sans all the extra stuff? My dealer said it was one...or the other. Part of me felt like it was stupid not to go with all the upgrades on the SL (since they had one in stock)...but then when I thought of my wife driving without ABS...you get the picture.Either way it is an awesome car. Looks, driving, MPG, SPACE!!! We are so glad to be rid of the Tiburon and driving something practical and I am just looking to see what the rest of the VERSA world thought of this pricing choice by Nissan.

*********ALSO--Anyone know of a good place to get the floormats in DFW? It seems that the mats are even more scarce than the Versa itself. Anyone ever bought from Lee Nissan in Maine? they have the mats for like $97 shipped. Saves me $5 and tax over what the dealers want to order a set.

I have an SL on order with CVT, ABS and floormats. No other stuff. Either there aren't any like that available in your area or your dealer just wanted to make the sale sooner. They definitely do make them, though (unless my dealer is lying to me).

Isn't ABS standard on Canadian SL's though?

Nope. It was an option.

hmmm...that's not what the nissan.ca says how much did you pay for ABS, was your initial price lower or something?

Next, I don't quite understand something about your argument... Nissan still says that ABS can NOT be ordered with the Convenience Package, and the convenience package is required for all the "bells and whistles"... so by the logic, the ABS can't be ordered with any other packages that "jack up" the price...

Oops sorry. Senior moment. You're quite right the ABS is standard on the SL and an option on the S. We'd priced out both.

Has everyone gone to the http://www.nissanusa.com page and "built their Versa?"

It won't let me build the Versa with both ABS and Sunroof.

I assume when the salesmen say those packages can be ordered together either they know something the Nissan people don't, or that the salesmen know so little about the Versa they are just trying to make a deal.

I really think this is probably the case, more than anything else. The sales manager at my shop didn't even know how to open the back hatch !! The owner knows virtually nothing about the car, but then he also owns a Chevy and a Ford dealership.

My dealer has Pontiac/Nissan/Cadillac.

They were pushing the 2006 Sentras so badly, they barely showed us a Vibe which I orginally wanted. But after we drove the Versa, everything else paled in comparison.

Haha, no one wants the Sentra. Bring on the B16.

I think the earlier replies about the dealer pushing what they have/not knowing anything about the car is probably the case. I had not built a versa SL online when I went in. If I had known at the time you could order it with just ABS we probably would have gone with the SL. That's what I get for listening to the Sales guy. But we are totally happy with the car--and will likely add rims, cruise, and OEM armrest in the next year (or whenever they come out) and ABS was the biggest must have for us. And even as an "S--- man is it a sweet little car.
