Hello.. I am the guy who created the thread "26 years old man looking for an entry level watch under CAD $2K" earlier on this forum. After some thoughtful research both online and in real life, I have set my eyes to these watches...

1.(most favorite one) Tag Heuer Carrera Automatic Chronograph Most reputable watch retailers in Toronto Canada quote me CAD$3200 all-inhttp://static.flickr.com/19/10...4.jpg

2. Tag Heuer Aquaracer Automatic Chronograph. Most reputable watch retailers in Toronto Canada quote me CAD$2700 all-in

http://www.mappin-and-webb.co....6.jpg

3. Oris TT3 Chronograph with metal band (least favorite one)No idea how much it would cost

http://cdn.overstock.com/image...5.jpg

Now my question is, how much should i make an offer (in CAD $) for each watch on the above list so that it sounds reasonable (won't get my *** kicked out of the door) yet not offensive to both parties? Please keep in mind that I will be buying my watch in Toronto, Canada and i will be buying it from a national-wide reputable retailer....

Since I am not looking to buy it from any online stores, I understand that the price is going to be somehow a bit more expensive.. however, i am willing the spend that extra money just for a peace of mind...

oh and also.. the type of watch that i am looking for (as i believe i have mentioned in the other thread) will need to meet the following criterias:

1. No used watches (too much hazzle)2. Automatic Chrongraph3. sapphire crystal case4. black dial, metal band5. Do not like Seiko6. around CAD$2000 - $3000 (i was originally aiming for under 2K, but i can't find any good ones in range..... )

So If any of you have suggesions other than the ones on my list.. please feel free to share them with me...

Your help is deeply appreciated. ....

To the Mod, i know this is not a watch forum, but this is the only forum I visit on regular basis and i seem to be having a hard time finding a watch forum..so please don't move my thread.. thanks!

To each his own.....

I think it's a reasonable question for the G General.

I have no interest in expensive watches at the moment, so I don't have much to add other than I prefer the looks of the first.(I also prefer leather bands.... )

Sorry, please continue...

The first one looks the best, it's nice and clean. The second one looks like a fossil watch I have....so that's not saying much. While I like carbon fiber, and especially carbon fiber watch faces, the third one is WAAAY too cluttered. Also, the band looks the best on the first one.

ummm, yes.

But, this is the G-General Forum.

In my mind, it's similiar to the General forum, but aimed at G-owners who participate in the G-Forums.

So, I guess I care.

I have the carrera chrono and love it. I paid $2500 usd for it last October and bought from an authorized dealer. Glad I did because the automatic movement broke after 5 weeks . Anyway, fixed no problems just an 8 week wait for it to get back to me no problems since.

After purchasing my f1 tag chrono I knew I wanted an upper end tag. I'm glad I got it and the feeling I have when I wear it is kind of like the feeling I get when I drive my G. I just feels right. I have no plans on buying another watch in this price range anytime soon. I do feel a little guilt when wearing it at times, same as when I'm driving my G. I don't need anything this nice but they are nice to have.

I have been eye balling a few Omega's but not new. My buddy is an independent jeweler for several local pawn shops, he is on the lookout for me.

He is just asking for opinions.

He already explained why he was posting here.

If you don't have anything to contribute to his thread then GTFO!

G general forums are for general questions about your G35/G37, and it's also the General Chat area for all non vehicle related posts that any of the G guys have questions about.

The G-forums is kind of like a forum within a forum.

If you don't like the thread about watches, don't post. Plain and simple. Now quit ****ing up Smartidiot's thread. If you don't know anything about watches, or are just posting to make useless comments, then I will delete your post.

Thanks guys.. i konw there must be some G35 owners who are into mechanic watches and are willing to share his/her opinons with me.. (don't wanna ask any questions on a Bimmer forum for the obvious reasons..)

Raylo, This is exactly the type of information that I want.. You are lucky that you can find a used one from a second hand watch shop. I actually don't kow any places in Toront that sells used watch.... I think eventually I will have to pay a visit to Buffalo to see what's out there (i bet the price is going to be at least 15% cheaper than here in Canada). So can you please tell me how u feel of the quality of this watch? Is it too heavy to wear everyday ?(workign 9 to 5, so at least 10 hours a day including commute).

Have you done any servicing on this watch yet? if so how much?

And lastly, do you think this watch (Tag Carrera Auto Chrono) is worth the extra few hundreds over Carrera Aquraracer Auto Chrono?

Thanks again.

I have the second watch. I bought it from a private dealer that my friend introduced me to. The original price that he was quoting was 1800 US dollars. Most stores sell it for this price in American stores. Jared's jewelery had it for around 2200. I bought it from him for 1200 US dollars. Awesome watch, but it's really heavy and it's also automatic. You have to wear it everyday or rewind it at least when not wearing. I get compliments on it all the time. You would be happy with the watch. I know I dont have any regrets.

The watch is heavy but in a good way if that makes sense. You know its on your wrist but it's not a bother. I usually have it on for 12 plus hours a day but I dont wear it everyday. I usually wear it 2x a week and it is a pain in the arse because the time and date is always off since I don't wind it everyday.

As far as the aquaracer vs the carrera goes, I went with the carrera because it was more of a dress watch. I think the aquaracer is a cross between the formula 1 and the carrera. Since I already had the f1 I wanted a different style.

As far as the cost goes for the repair, it was still under warranty so no charge. This is why I suggest you buy from an authorized dealer. I was told that Tag does not honor the warranty if the watch is not purchased from an authorized dealer. The watch comes with a 2 year warranty. They do this to keep their dealer's happy with more business and value of their product up (high price).

either watch you get, you won't be dissapointed. Good luck.

We need to get Infiniti to make a nice watch with the transponder in it so we don't have to carry the intelli key. Somebody send them an email.

Besides, a watch with the Mt. Fuji symbol on the dial would be real class.

Believe it or not, the best prices are found on-line. Do a lot of research before purchasing, though. Most store-bound re-sellers can't compete with on-line pricing. The manufacturer owns the warranty, so don't worry about the guy in the store telling you that you can't get your watch fixed if you buy on-line. As long as the on-line retailer is "authorized" you are good to go. Moreover, most Mfrs. will fix any of their own watches to help the re-sale market.Speaking of re-sale- all of the watches you have listed will have low residual value. Tags are too common to really remain desirable in used condition and Oris is a little too "esoteric". It might have a better chance in Europe.

Best of luck- watches are fun.
