ok well like it says what would you guys pay for a 1993 240 hatchback with a clean sr swap, its rust free which is hard to come by where i live considering theres like 15 for sale on craigslist in the whole state. the guy is asking 4500 but he said price is negotiable with cash in hand which ill be bringing only 4k. its got two sets of rims, extra fenders, braided brake line, coils and thats all i remember. let me know what a fair price is.

Welcome to NICO!Sounds like a good price as long as the swap was done correctly.

i figured if i could get it for 3500 it would be a steal cuz when i search out of state i find ghetto rigged ones with sr20's for like 4k and this one is spotless, going to look/buy it saturday.

i think the price range is about right, if everything is in good working/running order

Also consider the extra parts as a negotiation tool. Think about if you really want/or will ever use them. If not, negotiate a price without them

omg this! I spent 3500 on a 240 that came with a bunch or aero, wheels, and suspension goodies that aren't even on the car anymore. Def one of the poor financial decisions ive made :/

If you don't need/want it, dont get it.

You guys got it all wrong. The seller won't want to keep the extra parts, so you get the whole package deal cheap (caveat: as long as the extra parts are quality and have resale value). Then you sell off the extra stuff which brings the overall cost of the car down. Got my most recent s13 with swap and full goodies for $2700, sold off wing and wheels and other assorted jdm stuff and brought final price down to $2000. Beat that.

Assuming it's a clean swap and runs good that's a great price. Most shops charges atleast that much alone to swap in a stock redtop into a 240.

ZeroLift charges $4600 to do a redtop SR swap in a S_chassis... Its gay as f***... and its a stock swap... this sounds like a good deal... i wouldnt pay more than $3600 for it... then sell your stuff that you already have, if you dont need them, for more 240 $$$!

Not everyone's capable or willing to do the work. I don't see nothing wrong with supporting local shops. It's helps to keep the scene going. OP you should post up pictures of the car. Everyone has a different definition for clean SR swap.

Labor is expensive, swaps are time consuming and can be very difficult at times. I like how you have an opinion on something that you have never done..

If you cant do it yourself, you have to pay to play..

BadBob you gotta quit being a d***! I havent done a swap, cause i dont have $$$ or the know-how... (still 17) I do know that $4600 on a 50-70 HP increase IS NOT WORTH IT! I may go into UTI so i can learn how to do swaps, and build engines myself... but in the mean time... im rockin the KA!

I will not refrain from correcting members comments... like yours

Maybe you should simply stop voicing a opinion on topics you have no experience with and know nothing about

That is a very good deal considering most shops will charge 4-5k for a full stock SR20 Swap. It is best to do most or all the work your self if you are able to. The overall cost can be cheaper if you remove your KA, then drop in the SR20 and have the shop wire it up for you, weld piping, BOV etc.

It takes a lot of time to swap out an engine. Most shops are going to charge between $70-100+ / hour. Like Badbob said, you have to pay to play. When you get into doing the swap, you will find out that 4-5k may not be enough when you run into other issues that need trouble shooting.

Lobo is spot on..

You also have to take the business factor into consideration, overhead and operation costs are also a major factor for shops.

back on topic...

OP did you buy the car? lol

:squint: Maybe you should just keep your TROLLING comments to yourself :nono: ... Just because i dont have "experience" in a swap/engine work that doesnt mean i dont know anything about it! Like i said... still 17 dont have the funds or experience... but knowledge is a different story... i been in the 240 game for 3 years, ever since i got my first 240 at 15, day and night on the computer researching... I know my 240 s***! But dont you worry ill have a swapped RB20 in my 240 soon enough... :dblthumb:

Yes im trolling ??

But in all seriousness, 95% of general automotive knowledge comes from experience.
240sxAli4Life wrote:but where the hell is your BOV?? I dont see one on the hotpipe or the cold pipe??? Is it just me, or is that the COOLEST part about being turbo'ed! :chuckle:
^^ this is a perfect example of someone who "knows their 240 s***!"

Ok so you may have got me on the BOV thing... but where do you get 95% From... you do learn a lot from experience but that doesnt mean people without "experience" doesnt know what they are talking about, or dont know whats involved and whats going on...!

ok so i went and looked at it and all i can say is.. I WANT THAT b**** NOW, im guna end up paying 4k for it but the swap is really clean to what iv seen be4, none of the wires all over bs. i needs some clearcoat help in some spots but it just shows that it never had body work. and this guy really knew his s*** and omg the exhaust would make anyone blow their load, none of that ricy s***, this had a DEEP and MEAN growl to it. and he took me for a ride, omg, iv never riden in a 240 nor seen the power of an sr but holy f*** that thing pulled hard, iv riden is some fast a** cars but s*** nothing like that for 1/4 the price. and i know im paying a lil more then i should but you dont see a 240 like this anywhere near here and i dont every plan on selling it but it has 240,000 miles :( but you could never tell cuz it turns on a dime and this guy sponsors a bunch of drift teams and really knows his turbos.

I wouldn't pay them a thin dime. They've got a track record of dishonesty and making excuses, and until they start correcting some of their screw-ups, they'll not see a kind word from me in the Nissan community.

This is what young dudes fail to realize. They want business to work for free LOL. I look at everything like business. People have to make money somewhere....
