I got this request in my e-mail this morning. Its from "Gregg" at "REALCARTIPS.com". Not sure who this guy is, but a search on this site for "realcartips" turned up nothing. Is this just a guy trying to use NICO to market his site, or is this legit?
I don't mind helping out a legit member, but I don't want to contribute to this site being a buffet of sales leads for a company that doesn't have a relationship with NICO, or link back to this site in a cooperative way. The site forces you to provide your information before you can get to the next screen. You also have to provide your e-mail address to get results. It looks like BS to me so I did neither.
Here is the body of his e-mail:
I came across one of your posts on the Infiniti forums and it looks like you own a 2008 Infiniti G35.I was wondering if you could help me out. I'm trying to build a database of prices that people paid for their new cars and it would be a huge help if you could post the price you paid for your Infiniti.
I'm not sure if you remember the MSRP and the price you paid, but if you do, I would really appreciate it (and so would future Infiniti G35 buyers). You can submit your price at the following URL:
http://www.realcartips.com
After you submit your price, it automatically ranks you compared to other G35 buyers, so you can see if you got yourself a good deal or if your dealer ripped you off.
And in case you're wondering, the reason for the site is to help future car buyers figure out how much they should pay for their new car. A few years ago, I got totally ripped off when I bought my car and I'm hopinga site like this will help prevent others from being ripped off as well.
thanks,

P.S. - you're one of the first people to know about my site, so if you have any feedback, I would much appreciate it. thanks.
