I think you made the right choice! I didn't see this thread until now, but I think the 2000 was the first year of the new model run, so having a year to work out the bugs is always a good thing.
I'd highly advise going to
http://www.nissantech-info/infiniti and buying the 1 day viewing subscription for $19.99. You can download the service manual and all of the TSBs as .pdf documents. You definately need a cable, DSL or other fast connection though. I did this earlier in the week and downloaded a lot of stuff - but I spent about 12 hours straight in front of the computer...
I was very impressed with the "little" problems that Nissan addresses, even as rolling changes throughout the model years. All the way down to updating the speed of the "seek" function on some of the radios.
In your situation with warranty remaining, having all of the TSBs will let you know what to ask for if there are updates available. Most of these start with "if the customer complains of xxxx" so they don't automatically do this stuff unless you ask.
