Anyone have a clue on how much i should be looking at for a machine shop to bore out my block for a + .20 piston (89.5mm)..??

I bought these pistons cause the web site said they were STOCK bore.. When i got them today.. the papers say 89.5 mm which is a .20 over

I called them and they told me that the web site was wrong so now im stuck with these pistons.

I really dont wana send this block off, thats why i wanted stock bore pistons.. But if worse comes to worse i will have to keep these and use them...

i'm not sure on the machining price, but things like that make me mad. basically, the company sold you something other than what you bought as advertised, and won't do anything about it!?

Print out a copy of the page and your order. They can't do that.Tell them to send you stock bore pistons or you'll get the law on them. It's fraud and you paid with credit or paypal?Call your company and tell them to remove charge. So that way they will fix it.Or just let you keep them.

It wasn't one of our sponsers, was it? If so, Email Greg(AZHitman) about it. If not, as long as your invoice/order says you ordered stock size and they sent you .20 over, they MUST replace or refund your money!

Even if it wasn't a sponser, greg may be willing to giveyou advise. If you email him, tell him you are from NICO and tell him your situation, He would probably give you advise on what your options are.

Keep us updated, If they don't fix it for you quickly, post the name of the company and the website so no other NICO members order from them.

No it's not right that they sent you the wrong pistons, but you don't want to replace your pistons with forged stock bore pistons anyway.

Machining is a usually somewhere in the $25-$50 a cylinder to have bored. At least in my neck the woods the last time I had one done. If I was you I would've wanted to get the motor hot tanked anyway to clean it up and clear out some passages better hopefully too.

Yea, I was quoted 100$ for a 4 cylinder for 20 over.

could you just do hottank/bore/hone and then put them pistons in yourself? Most of the builds I see are like $2k+ with long lists of things done, but I would just want to get a set of forgies in there. I don't see the need for anything else for power levels under 400.

i am having my block bored to .5mm over for supertech pistons, hot tanked block, magnafluxing block, crank, rods, micropolish the crank, and the entire bottom end assembly done for 1k. B & B Machine 12757 NE Whitaker Way Portland OR (503) 254-0630 is the place that is doing my work. for just the bore, hottank and magnaflux, i was quoted 185.00 which is a good price. then it was 40bux to polish the crank, and 7 bux to hand each piston on the rods.

So, a total of 185 + 40 + 28 = $252 for bore, hottank, magnaflux, crank polish, and attach pistons? The rest of the assembly was $748?

You guys have this all wrong.. They have not declined me yet on the refund nor replacement. They already changed the info on their website so now it reads correct... I recieved these pistons from the ups guy like at 7pm. It was like 730 b4 i realized that they were the wrong ones.I called CP and the department that handle's the returns / exchanges were closed. I was speaking to one of the tech's that knew more info about the pistons themselves and he was the one that told me what i had purchased and he realized at that time that the web site was noted wrong.. He did apologize but also told me to call 1st thing on monday and speak with the correct department and he didnt see any reason why they would not refund the money simply due to a web site error.....

you should have them balance the rotating assembly too

also along with this whole redoing the block thing

anyone know the price to knife a crank?

I don't to do all that stuff. It gets too expensive and its not worth it unless you're going for crazy power levels. A stock block KA wouldn't have a redone block or balanced assembly, so why should a built one have to? I can see why some people want to go all out on stuff, but it seems somewhat unnecessary for anything less than 450 whp. Sure, the $3k engine build will probably last a little bit longer or rev a bit smoother, but is it really worth that much more?

Sorry man, your first post was decieving. It sounded like they would not refund or replace. Any way, you got the answer to your question, right?

Then I can see why you would such a buildup. I know this is a bit off topic, but it just seems odd to me that many people go stock block in the low 300s, and then a bunch also go with forged rods/pistons/arp bolts/metal HG/headwork/valve springs & retainers/etc, some only making high 300s or low 400s. I'm just surprised that not many people do very basic buildups for moderate power.
