Is the top often broken on 240SX or more common with cracks in rear "window"?If you need to buy a new top, expensive? 1,000 USD?

Sorry guys, many strange questions but this car is new to me and I really like it.

/Mike

Also, check ebay. Search for "240sx convertible".

The guy selling tops on there has good quality.

Bought mine from tops on line as well. Great quality, great customer service, super fast shipping - about $375 plus shipping (including rear window). But, what a pain to install, especially since I needed some new webbing between the top and inner panel. You may want to see how the support webbing is holding up on yours and order it with the top. Also, prepare for buying 3M glue to finish assembly.

I need to replace mine very soon! almost fill up a 2 liter bottle, while taking the water from in between the back seat and the rear window over a 2 day non-stop rain. I have check prices online. Some up to $550 for top, window and hold-down-cables. These last ones do I need them? Is there a significant difference in material quality... $300+ vs. $500+ and is it worth the price difference.Regarding the webbing… I don’t know if what is bended on mine is the webbing. But I have end links bended and they are connected to the main frame with a torx type screw and the other ends are riveted (2 rivets) to the cross-beam (webbing…?) Where can I get these? Thanks in advance!

I've never seen one, but you could always have one custom made. The 240 has such a big opening that it would be a rather large affair, not as simple as an S2000 or a miata (only other 2 verts I can think of that use hardtops).

you mean a hard folding top? nah you could really only do that from the factory, when you engineer how the top folds and where it goes. I was talking about the solid hardtops, like they use in spec miata.
