As we all know, however, book value doesn't mean squat... book value on my z32 is around 7k... in clean factory condition... however I'm pretty confident I could get around 20k for it. Of course I know that when modding cars, one will never see what they put into it, but at 20k... that's about 40% of what I have invested. For 100k, I better get the fastest subi out there with a whiskey dispenser and some crystal glassware!
That's understandable, but there is such a thing as being realistic, and book value establishes a "realism bracket" where if the book is 10 you shouldn't be asking 30. You know damn well that most Zs couldn't pull $20k, I know I couldn't pull that for mine, even though mine has that in parts alone (working on getting the thing aesthetically pristine then it might). Some people don't live on this earth though when it comes to car pricing.
