Getting ready to buy a jdm tt longblock and was wondering how much it is going to cost to have it redone. I need the block cleaned bored .020, rotating assembly balanced, new plugs, crank polished, and some other things? I am buying new rods bolts bearings and pistons. the heads will need redone as well.I live in md. Where is a good place to have all this done? Thanks

I just rebuilt my NA

Shop charged me $350 for heads- cut all my valves, new seats, valve stem seals, decked, and hot tank

$120 for the OEM bearings
I got ITM pistons/rings/pins for around $250
Shop charged $175 to bore .020, hone, hot tank
$25 to install pistons on rods. You could do this yourself with snap ring pliers, I didn't know how easy it was til I had to flip one of the pistons around he put on backwards (Doh!)

I didn't polish my crank; it was pretty much spotless. He quoted me $120 to mic and polish it though

Thats most of the bottom end I can think of...oil pump is a pretty penny but if you can afford it, def def def change it.

You will need a gasket kit ($300 or so for OEM, $150 from Beck/Arnley)
You will also need new motor mounts most likely ($160 for OEM, $40 for Ford mounts)
Head bolts are $80 for OEM
120k kit $500-$600
$150-$250 for unexpected costs (hoses, parts, tools, etc.)

And more probably. It's not cheap...I am about done and I have spent about 1200. Replaced a lot of hoses and all gaskets, but I reused my rods, and got cheap (but trustworthy) pistons. I wouldn't skimp on the bearings, OEM was the only thing I considered.

yep biggs thats pretty much the budget I had with my build, aside from the turbos. Now I have a wider variety of tools I can do pretty much ANYthing with.

Google local shops or go to your mechanic he can tell you of a machine shop most likely. I found a good one 5 minutes away from me through my mechanic.

I would call around at some of the local repair shops and dealerships and get some recommendations for a machine shop. If a certain shop's name keeps popping up, you probably have a winner :)
