My son's 2007 G35S has a blown head gasket and needs a new engine (VQ35HR/6-speed). The quotes on a replacement engine and repairs are more than the car is worth (KBB.com). What are some sources to determine the worth of a car with a blown engine? What ways have people used to sell them?

If it just has a blown head gasket why does it need a new engine? Do either of you do your own repairs? Have you priced having the head gaskets done?
