Love playing your Xbox 360 games online? Join the crew...and please have your credit card handy, because Microsoft would like to have a word with it.

Specifically, the word "more."
Xbox Live

On Monday, the company announced plans to raise the price of the Xbox Live Gold membership, making it the online network's first fee hike in its eight-year history. Beginning November 1, gamers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the U.K. will have to fork over at least $10 extra per year to enjoy the premium service, which is required for playing games with (or against) pals online.

I can live with it, I always buy my renewal through NewEgg or wait for a discount to pop up anyways. I get plenty of use out of my Xbox live membership to not get upset over them raising the price.

I get a good amount of use with my gold account too, SSF4 and MW2 make it worth it, I guess.

But at least you're not paying $60/year not to touch your PS3. :)

If it would thin out the pre-pubescent herd of whiners who only seem to be skilled at annoying other players or dodging the unfeeling hand of Darwin I'd be ok if Microsoft doubled the price.

Those pre-pubescent whiners dont pay for their subscription, their parents do. And the parents would probably pay anything to keep their pre-pubescent whiners occupied because they sure as hell dont want to deal with them any more. What would be awesome is some sort of verification system built into the controller. It could read your fingerprints in real time. If the fingerprints dont belong to a player 17+, no MW2! Hey, I can dream cant I?

Yep, $10 on top of your Gold subscription. Not available for Silver subscribers, even with the fee.
PS3 will supposedly offer it to non-PSN+ subscribers once Hulu Plus gets out of beta. But right now the PS3 version requires a PSN plus sub and $10 a month.

Silver's free. You set it up with a bew Xbox, but its features are heavily restricted. Can't play online with silver, and silver gets demos a couple weeks later...if at all. And you can't buy marketplace items with silver.

Man, I am SO glad I'm not into console gaming (Other than hand-held)...at all.
Then again...I also have to pay to play in the form of better hardware every 2 years. And there are rumors circulating of subscription services for some of the new FPS's coming out...Black Ops being one of them.

man, save for MMO's and s***, PC gaming is dead. I love FPS games...but they're all console now...they're catered to the punk bishez on XBox live.

there's a dude on ebay that makes a pretty neat set up to use a keyboard and mouse with an xbox that doesn't have the lag the microsoft product has...it costs damn near what another console will cost though :(

BUT that's still cheaper than another videocard...
