Price doesent sound bad but you have to remeber for that price they have close to $300.00 for primer, paint, and clear which means it's the Cheapest paint they can find most of that is factory packaged with a choice of different Clears, It's just not going to look very glossy, and they will prolly only shoot one to two thin coats of clear to just get by with it. make sure they are primering the car and not just scuffing the existing paint and shooting the color, if they don't mention primer i would walk away and fast because the paint will start to flake in a year or two. do you have a garage? if so you could always buy a cheap $100.00 HVLP gun and try your hand at it! Base/Clear paint isn't that hard to apply ive painted close to 20 vehicles with Base/Clear and before that it was onlt single stage and the 2-stage paint is much easier! just gotta watch the clear and if it does run you just wet sand it out with 1000 to 1500 grit and buff it out with a 3M Polishing glaze. everyone has to start somewhere you might think about it, that way you can say you painted it.
well the paint shop is called "sprayglow" they do put out show quality paint on show/truck rides, they took me into the back where they have the painted working and showed me cars in each step of the process, and a few cars that where waiting to be picked up.
the paint i want is the factory paint code for R34's TV2 is the paint code.
the paint they would use on my car is Sherwin Williams paint, start off with a black base since the TV2 is a deep blue with a good amount of pearl, along with a small amount of metalic. they where pretty adament (SP?) about the amount of layers they would use 4 at most and depending on me how many clears i wanted.
they did mention primer, after the stock paint was sanded down.
they also expalined that if i wanted the color/sand/buff that i would need to have it done no later then 1 week from final paint. they also said that they would bake my car to get the shell of the paint to cure quicker, instead of leaving it outside.
the stock paint on my car now is that light grey color, not sure the paint code.
i do have a garage and im all for doing things my self when it comes to my cars/trucks but at this time i think it would be better to let someone else spray it.
thanx for the advice, what do you think?
