Price for a KA24DE rebuild

My leak down test resulted in 6%, 6%, 10%, 17% So while my motor is in the shop now, were talking about rebuilding the motor, .20 overbore, etc.. He quoted me $1200 and it would be like a new motor. Does this price sound reasonable? Thanks.

If you could list the work being done, we could better judge the value.Does that number also include parts?

I JUST bought a 1993 from my doctor who had fresh receipts for the engine rebuild. She paid $2700.

i just had my KA24DE rebuilt and the mechanic did 4 new plugs, 1 gal of coolant, 1 airfilter, 1 thermostat assembly, 1 radiator assembly, a rebuilt longblock which is all the internals of the block and the head. distributor cap and rotor, a set of plug wires, a rocker gasket, 4 quarts of oil and oil filter. All this came to $2862.90 labor and parts included.

Ok included in the rebuild is:new pistons, rings, main bearings, connecting bearings, all new gaskets, polished crank, bore block, hone block, (overbore) rebuild cylinder head. What you guys think?

Good deal, just make sure you dont get a Jasper rebuilt head, and the guy is actually rebuilding it all himself.

well from my understanding hes getting the head from a shop that specializes in rebuilding remanfuctured heads, so im not sure

Probably Jasper, all they make is crap.Please make sure it is not Jasper, you dont want any of that.

No its not a jasper head. Its a company here that remanufacters them.
