I would like to know if $13k is too cheap for a 2006 touring 350z with 120k on the odometer? Would that price denote some
dark hidden secrets about the mechanical condition or is that price where it should be? Reason I ask is I have been seeing these
at the $16k+ mark with the same package and am a little leary of the low price. Also I understand 120k is not a deal breaker on these as the engine is supposed to be pretty iron clad and dependable. Would I be buying too much wear for the money or does that sound on the square?

what does the rest of the car look like? You can always pay to have a mechanic look the motor over or do a buyers inspection. I would say if a mechanic says it's mechanically sound, then buy it for any price as long its what you like and you're cool with it.

If it's a 6MT you should check over the engine carefully and consult with the owner to find out about any potential oil consumption issues. The 2005 Track and Anniversary (6MT) models and all 2006 6MT models are equipped with the Rev Up version of the VQ35DE and it has been known to experience excessive oil consumption.

Make sure all the the services are up to date/mileage - I've know a few owners (usually BMW & MB) that would sell a high mileage car rather than pay for a high interval services/maintenance. A new clutch and new pads & rotors will quickly eat into any bargain price you may have.

Tires - a car with that much mileage should be on at least it's second set of tires and probably its third or fourth depending on tire selection and driving habits. If the owner has been planning on selling it the tires probably need replacing. Checking for uneven tire wear can also reveal potential alignment issues.

I am in complete agreement with Orange about taking it to mechanic to get checked out. A pre-buy inspection is a pretty common service, it's worth the price just to get the car up on a lift to check areas that you would have a hard time checking out on your own.

Good luck on your potential purchase!

@orangeNblue:
The car looks clean with minimal road wear on the front bumper (small paint chips and bugs). The interior is pretty spotless as well with the normal wear on the driver side door window/lock control panel. There is also a little wear on the center dash pocket door. The engine bay is pretty darn near clean enough to eat off of. No smoking or weird noises from the engine seems to pull hard and runs and shifts out good with proper clutch pedal return spring pressure.
@BusyBadger:
I have no clue as to how many sets of tires have been on this car as it has had two previous owners. I am looking at this car at a dealership and they bought it from an auction. I was just not sure if the price was legit for a good clean properly maintained 06 350z.
The two owners thing made me wonder if its a problematic car or if since it was purchased through an auction could it have been a repo or trade in. It does supposedly have a clean carfax and when I go back to possibly purchase the car I can check that out.
The whole deal sounds to good to be true going by my track record of "luck" but who knows. I know this is the place for the strait dope on Nissan's so I wanted to get educated before I drop what to me is serious cash and trade in my 06 F250 diesel super crew on this car.

just because its a two owner doesn't really mean anything. I'm the second owner of my 2008 350z and it only has 32K miles on it. People trade in their cars all the time...because it was at an auction, it most likely means that it was traded into a dealership and they weren't able to move it on their lot very quickly or just didn't want to put it out there at all.

Its a higher than normal mileage car for its age so it's going to be priced low...I agree with badger that the oil consumption issue is something to look out for. TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC....I cannot stress this enough. Its a used car, you don't know what gremlins could be hiding in it. If your mechanic okays the car, then start deciding whether or not its right for you....and since it's at a dealership, get a new set of tires thrown in there....
