THe truck is a Regular cab XE 4X4 with the 5 Speed and four cyclinder, it has 87000 original miles so he claims and blue book puts it at 3000 in EXCELLENT condition, it looks to be in about good, which is 2300. the CL link is attached, hes asking 4200. there is rust above the left rear wheel well, and on the left rocker and he says the bed itself is clean.

Just my opinion, if it was me I would run a Car fax to make sure the mileage is correct. The speedometer odometer wasn't a strong feature on the Nissan pickup. A used one can be obtained at a salvage yard. Check the screws around the speedometer, the screws have a black finish, when removed the finish comes off leaving a shine to the head. Looking at the photos, someone has spent a lot of hours polishing the truck. If the mileage is correct, chances are the timing chain, alternator, and starter have not been replaced. I would take a magnet and do a walk around, a magnet will not stick to body filler. Check the floor on the bed, radiator support and the frame for rust. The price is a bit on the high side, if it had an extended cab and was loaded, I would be more comfortable with the price. Keep in mind even with the lower miles the truck is 18 years old. I would offer $2900, which would leave room for unexpected repairs.

Go to KBB.com and punch in the complete detail's and condition of the Truck.

Double check the value similar truck's are being listed for @ autotrader.com .

the bluebook value as i stated was about 2200 in its condition, and in excellent condition was 3000 at best. so far my negoiations have not moved him from 3400.

Was that from KBB?

Be sure to ck at least 3 different source's for Truck Value.

If you think the price is too high,, keep looking but check back with him about once a week, if you really want that particular truck.

TrueCar also has an evaluation, as well as some other's.

Nissan Truck's that are in Real Good Condition get top dollar.

Example: I got the evaluation from several source's,, with KBB being the Highest. Couldn't believe the little '93 Nissan 4cyl KC AT 2WD, with 176K miles was being appraised for so much. It's actually what I thought the value of the truck was,, but never thought that I would get 4000 for it, back in 2013. The First Person that looked at it, bought it. Surprised the heck out of me.

Good Luck,

yes it was indeed from KBB, and other sources ive been finding are listing it as lower than KBB, as a side note said gentleman selling the truck has now said the truck is no longer for sale, yet the ad remains up, so we shall see where it goes from there.

That's what I've found too.

So when buying I use TrueCar,, and when selling use KBB.. :)

Truecar helped me out a lot, when I was buying the "13 Frontier.. :) Not so much by TrueCar's Price,, but seeing what the Lowest Price Paid by anybody was..

Good Luck,

I found KBB pretty much useless when I was shopping for a hardbody these trucks are in high demand and a nice one doesnt sit around very long, its almost a 20 year old truck with low miles if it doesnt have much rust and it runs good around here that truck would fetch 4-5k...somewhere where rust isnt an issue like arizona probably much less $$

That description fits most any rust-free truck in good condition--just for the utility value alone. Then, + if it's a 4x4. + for king cab, etc.

Hardbody's are just plain good looking, which is a desirable trait in itself and makes for a quick sale. But, that doesn't necessarily translate into more $$$'s, unfortunately.

KBB is useless on vehicles over 10 years old IMO. Good condition older vehicles are grossly undervalued in most cases. The $4200 is a reasonable starting point with those low miles, but it is more than I'd pay. $3400 would have been pretty good.

The better comparison is to do searches on comparable rigs. You'll find that market value varies greatly from book value on most older vehicles. Condition is everything on them, and if everything on the truck works (as it should with only 87k), It's probably not a bad deal, but if the guy does decide to offer it again, get under the truck and look it over thoroughly for rust, particularly inside the frame rails on the back half of the frame.

To a point yes I know when I was looking I came across a few 4x4 hardbodys in good shape and low miles asking crazy money 8-9k. Gotta be patient I looked about 3 months till I found one local, its hard in an area where mostly everything over 10 years old is rusted.

Truck values are truley in the eye of the beholder when you get vehicles that are over 20+ years old. I have a 93 SE 4X4 with 100K miles and it's all original, inside and out. I'm pretty confident that I could get 7,000 for it in a nano second if I were to advertise it forsale. Might sell it later this year so I guess we will see if I'm just blowing smoke or it's the real thing.

It's the real thing if the buyer were on meth.
