Hello,I was searching for articles for the VK45 engine when I stumbled upon this Hemmings article. http://www.hemmings.com/hsx/st....htmlSome cool history about the car on which the Y34 M is based. Then, some contentions that the car was an abject failure. Given the sales numbers quoted herein, kinda hard to argue. It does give me thoughts of potential collectibility. Which I really think is possible given the absurdly low number built (6,353 in 2003, 1,690 in 2004) and how unique the 2003-2004 M was. While the Y34 Cedric/Gloria look almost identical to the 2003-2004 M, the powertrain and interior are completely different. And the US market was the only market that had a V8 powered Y34.Cheers,ML

I see the 2003-04 M45 simply a High Tech Japanese version of the 1966 GTO. Put the cars side by side and you decide. The lines are dead on. Yes in 03-04 everyone wanted a car that looked like a lexus. 1966 GTO was my dream car as a teenager. My 2004 M45 is beyond my wildest dreams.

I can relate to this. As for Hemmings, it is a respectable publication. Mark's comment on collectibility, made me think that there may be something there.

In the end, when the kid with a rice'd Honda has a stunned look on his face when he gets smoked...priceless!!

Thanks for sharing the article.
