Alright guys - I have a sickness apparently. Here's my thing.

They're offering special incentives at my local dealership this weekend for return customers. I have an 08 Coupe... and I might have the opportunity to upgrade early?

Basically, with the discounts and financing incentives on 2010 Coupes, if I can get them to the right number on the trade-in, I can have a 2010 SR Coupe (in black, still) with everything mine has except for leather (I won't really miss leather much I don't think... I'll still have Bose and BT as the one they have has the premium pkg and that's the only reason I have leather now is because I wanted premium audio and bluetooth and that's the only way you can get that with the 08 coupes) for about $40 less a month than what I'm paying for my coupe now. I have about a 70% confidence level that I can achieve this without putting money down because I know the guy that I'll be going to talk to about it.

I'm also curious if I can get the numbers similar on a black 370Z with the sport pkg (I can't afford a touring model, but will not buy a Z without the sport pkg... I think that's a sin.) Though I'm not sure how practical it'll be for me to have one as much as I drive, not to mention I don't think a hockey bag will fit in a Z. It may not be a good idea for me to have a Z altogether, but damn it if it wouldn't be awesome.

I talked to my insurance company, and basically the rate is about the same for an AC or a 370Z for me either way. So that's not really a factor.

In buying a 2010 AC, I'd be able to take my Tanabe exhaust and my AEM intake with me and put it on the 2010 right away (and I have all the parts to return my 08 to stock for trade-in). I wouldn't buy aftermarket wheels as I REALLY dig the newer 18s versus my sucka$$ 17s on my 08, so the only two things I see myself doing with a 2010 SR is BC coils and tinting the windows. Maybe some endlinks and a ypipe, but moreover I'd be pretty content (until the next damn badass nissan comes out, then I'm sure I'll be sick for it too).

Three options - try and go for a Z, get a new SR if the numbers are right, or just keep my car. Your thoughts, NICOers?

Go for the SR! I may be a lil biased of course but yeah I don't think you'll regret it. You already know what you're getting yourself into with an AC since ya got one already and if the deal works out right you're essentially getting a free upgrade

why would you trade in your altima coupe for another altima coupe with the same packages? its the same car but with a different front bumper, headlight, and hood. keep your 08, get a stillen front fascia and some projector lights and it will look better then a 2010.... or you could go for a Z.

I have to argue with you there for the looks.

I want new wheels for one, and I've always liked the newer stock wheels. After letting it sink in, I really love the new front fascia and hood on the 10s. It is really classy and it flows with the car better and I wouldn't want to change anything about it or the hood. Plus I'll have projectors, and I wouldn't change those. I have so many things about my car exterior-wise that I want to change, and the 2010 SR does it for me. Otherwise, in order to be content, I will want new wheels, Coilovers, new stillen front lip, CMod grill, stillen rocker panels, and maybe a spoiler. I would love a VIS CF hood as well, color matched black while leaving the CF vents as they are (I think that would look super sick), but the lines in the new hood are sexy.

As far as stillen front fascia - I always hated that it deletes the fog lights. I paid for those on my coupe (and I actually use them quite often) and I don't trust any body shops around here to tastefully modify a stillen front fascia to include foglight openings.

The Bose stereo is better in the '10s simply because of iPod interface. I use the crap out of my iPod in my car now with the AUX-in, while the new ones have an actual USB interface, so I could bring a 120GB pocket drive full of my music and plug it into the car and never use a CD. The gauges, seats, and trim are more in line with my tastes as well. So this would be an upgrade for me and I could still carry a hockey bag in the trunk (vs a Z). Even if I could get the payments to be the same I'd probably still do it. But I will definitely do it if I can get the numbers I've calculated. It's all in how badly they want to sell me one.

I personally think the 07-08 looks better with a stillen front fascia. plus I prefer to customize my car instead of just getting a 2010 and keeping it 100% stock. but if thats what you like then more power to you. the only thing is, are the minor changes for the 2010 worth the THOUSANDS you will lose from the trade in?

Go for the z, it's kinda pointless if u trade it for a 2010... There's no major upgrades and the projector lights are fugly. Only newer parts that could be comming out would mostly be body kits since the engine bay is pretty much the same... the money you would be spending on the differnce u can use for turbo or something

Get the 370z. Bu5 if u do get the coupe don't waste ur money on the audio package.u can get a much better after market system cheeper than the factory. I wish I hadent gotten the audio package on my coupe, cause now I am just tearing it out which is a waste of money, but the nose system sucks . Other than the head lights. I don't really see the point in getting a new coupe. I like the 08-09 model better anyways. But that's just my opinion

No question that I'd be impressed with it, but I just don't know that I could have one as my only vehicle. There are times when I need to borrow my brother's car for things even with my AC, and we might not even be living near each other in the near future.

Hey man, to each his own - I wear a suit four days a week to work, and I really think the 2010 has a VERY classy look to it. There is very little I would do to change it (except coilovers would definitely be purchased to lower it and enhance the handling). I really can't get away with going too nuts with my daily driver when I'm taking Army brass out to lunch. As far as the trade in - with the discounts they were offering, I'd be able to completely offset the amount I'm upside-down with my 08 while getting a significantly better interest rate. Plus I can take my Tanabe exhaust and AEM intake with me

I used to be a huge car audio guy, but I noticed a trend - when I quit putting aftermarket head units in my cars, my cars would no longer get broken into. My Sentra and, to date, my Altima, were never and have never been broken into, and I attribute that to keeping stock head units in them. I'm pretty content with the Bose in my Altima, and was very content with the Rockford Fosgate I had in my Spec V (it had better low end than my Altima's Bose, but the Bose has better midrange and his while maintaining some a**-end). These days, I'd rather pay the extra for the beefier factory setup and not mess with it any further.

For the record - I haven't even gone to the dealer yet. There was a shooting at my school Friday, and it was V-Day weekend with the girlfriend, AND I got a damn ticket for running a stop sign. I suppose my car dilemmas will have to wait a bit.

I've officially decided to wait. Thanks for all the input guys! Perhaps we'll just get some Coilovers and wheels for the 08 and drive it a bit longer.

Awesome; I was afraid of being by my lonesome around here if we had lost a Huntsville member to the 370Z boards (sorry for my selfishness). Where the heck is Dazink (the other Huntsville member) he posted once about a year ago and has not been heard of since? Sorry I just went way out in left field on that one.

It's all good man. I'm not sure... I haven't actually met any of you guys. I ran into a dude at Target that's got a stillen roof&trunk lip, exhaust, and r1 racing wheels on an azure blue coupe that I haven't seen before. I was gonna say hi but my GF was like "omg you nerd he doesn't want to talk to you about his car" lol

Buy OEM wheels, it'll come out cheaper and better quality. 370z wheels, M45 sport wheels, G37 sport wheels, SER wheels. All are hotter than 95% of what the aftermarket offers.

I don't know why this is such a delemma. Z or coupe..

The questions that should be asked if money and insurance is not a weighing factor is, what will I be doing with this more? If this is your primary source of transportation, and mileage is important, then go for the coupe. A Z for a daily can be a little rough but some people do it. Personally, I would go for the Z but ultimately it IS your choice. As you said earlier, as long as the trade in amount is good and the cost of the Z or coupe is about the same, go for what you think will be more exciting.

well, from what I've worked up... it should not be hard to accomplish, but much of that depends on the dealer. The likelihood of me achieving the numbers on a Z is much worse than for the AC. I know they're not coming off of the Z much, unless of course you find a leftover 09 (which there are many still out there).

A little update since the beginning of this topic - all of my car endeavors have been put on hold for at least a month or two as I have just purchased my first home. wahoo! so all my delightful car-scheming must wait until after I close and finish getting furniture. With all this house/hockey crap lately I think I'd much rather like an Xterra at this point lol

Just so you guys know - my payment being cheaper is mainly attributed to the atrocious interest rate that I have on my current loan. My credit has improved dramatically over the past year and a half. I'll post a more detailed breakdown of my calculations after work to give you guys an idea of what I've figured up.
